pass a By-Luw authorizing the closing of
First Street, Plan No. 275 for the County
of Huron, which street Is In the Hamlet
of Holmesville.
Objections to the passing of such By -
Law should be forwarded to the under-

PeeWees fare well in tournament

HENSALL - The Pee Wees participated in
the Royal Canadian Legion Tournament in
Ripley on January 18. An exciting first
game was played against Brussels.
In the first period Brussels took a 1-0 lead.
Hensall tied it up before the end of the first
period. Hensall went . ahead 2.41 with
Brussels tying it up at the end of the second
period.
After a scoreless third period the winner
was decided with a five man shoot-out. Hen-
sall was the victor with two shots to one.
This advanced Hensall to .the final in the
Hensall being defeated 5-0.
High Scorers
A good number attended shuffleboard on
January 23. The high scorers were - Walter
Spencer, 291; Alf Ross, 265; Ida Dickert,
253; Pearl McKnight, 231 and Jeanette
Turner 226.
Happy Birthday
Northcrest's oldest resident, Jessie Arm-
strong celebrated her 93rd birthday on
January 25. The residents and several
visitors enjoyed a birthday party in the
lounge arranged by her daughters Jean
Love and Betty Flear.

Heart Month
Don't forget February is Heart Month,
when Carol Goudie the Captain and her can-
vassers come calling. Please give. Also
special recognition should be given to
Charlie Hay and The Oddfellows, as they
canvass the eastern Portion of Hay
Township. Don't forget we all have a heart.
Christine Cooper supplies music at Ste Andrew's
KIPPEN - Rev. Lorne Keays presided in
the pulpit of St. Andrew's on January 26. His
sermon on What do we really need in life, ex-
plained that people have needs–material,
social, metal and spiritual. The Ministry of
Music was supplied by Christine Cooper
playing, two numbers at the piano.
February 9 is the Kippen Congregation An-
nual Meeting.
Personals
Along with many other Huron and South
Western Ontario residents, Ronald and
Mildred MacGregor attended the provincial
board of inquiry hearing in Guelph, to hear
the presentation of the Foodland Hydro
Committee. The main speaker was Amory
Lovins, director of a Colorado -based
research institute. Mr. Lovins told the in-
quiry hydro should concentrate on more ef-
ficient use of electricity and its present
distribution system.
On January 22 the Energetic Eight
gathered at Al and Margaret Hoggarth's
home to help celebrate Doris and Bev
Hamilton's 20th wedding anniversary.
Cards were enjoyed by all with Doris
Hamilton scoring high for ladies, Frances
Kinsman, low, Harold Parsons capturing
the high prize for the men and Bob Kinsman
scoring low.
UCW elects new slate of officers
Holmesville U.C.W. ladies held their first
meeting of 1986 on Tuesday, January 21.
Rev. Jim Bechtel presided at the in-
stallation of officers for 1985-86. They in-
clude Past President, Isobel Harris; Presi-
dent, Charlotte Norman; Vice President,
Alice Porter; Secretary, Betty Stones;
Treasurer, Jean Wyatt; Stewardship &
Finance, Lorene Young; Nominating, Jean
Ginn; Flowers and Gifts, Kaye Harris;
Cards, Doris Batkin; Flowers for. Church,
Jean Wyatt; Christian Development, Elaine
Bechtel; World Outreach, Isobel 'Harris;
Social, Marg Yeo and Grace Walter;
Visiting, Ada Tebbutt; Manse, Jean Perdue
and Pianist, Verna Lobb.
Theme for the meeting was, A Look at the
New Year.
The leader, Verna Lobb read articles en-
titled A Look at the World and A Look at Us.

Tebbutt. Jean Wyatt read a poem, Begin To-
day and Resolutions was read by Alice
Porter.
The business meeting was opened by the

Students prepare or speeches
HULLETT - G%ades 4 - Cat Hullett Central
School have started working on their
speeches. Speeches will be presented in
front of the school on February 19. The
competition with Blyth will be held at
Hullett Central this year on February 24.

the original road allowance in the
Township of Goderich, in the County of
Huron, being between lots 36 and 37 of
the Maitland Concession (on the west
side) and lot 13 - Huron Rd Concession
and lot 82 - Maitland Concession (on the
east side, and being that part of the
said road allowance lying north of that
closed by the Township of Goderich by
By -Law No. 23-1984).
