Lost Heir
Nine tables off lost heir were played on
January 22 at the memorial hall. High lady
was Fern McDowell; low lady, Alice
Buchanan; high man Willis Bromley; low
man, Gordon McDowell. Lost heir is held
every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the town hall.
Euchre
Only three tables of euchre were in play
this week. The winners were: high lady,
Ella Richmond; high man, Ted East; low
lady, Marg East; low man Miller Rich-
mond.

John Hesselwood, on behalf of the senior
citizens, thanked the committee for the
social afternoon that was enjoyed—Iv
everyone. He also announced that the next
meeting will be at 2 p.m: on February 22 at
the memorial hall.
Bylaw enforcement officer hired
HULLETT TWP. - Council here passed a
bylaw naming Eugene McAdam as the
Municipal Law Enforcement Officer for the
township at the meeting on January 7. -
Mr. McAdam will be responsible for
enforcing such township matters as the
building code, trespassing cattle and
regulating manure pits.
In other matters, a tile drainage loan was
issued for payment by council for $5,200.
The road superintendent in the township
was instructed by council to apply for the
final road subsidy for 1985.
Council will apply to have a planning
student work on a part-time basis to
complete the zoning bylaw for the township
under the IMA program. Last year, the
hiring of the planning student was handled
by the Huron County Planning Department
on behalf of the township.
A licence 'for a wrecking yard was
approved by council for Bud Chamney.
Council accepted the petition from Bill
Leiper for a Dodds Drain Extension naming
Henry Centen of R.J. Burnside and

Associates as the engineer.
Two delgations appeared before council at
the meeting. Don Greidanus attended the
meeting to discuss placement of fence along
a township road allowance.

The Blyth Bandits took part in the Annual Blyth Broomball Tourna-
ment held last week at the arena. A January 23 game saw the Ban-
dits defeat the visiting Palmerston Bears, 5-2. Good ball control and
patience by these two Blyth players helped lead the host team to

$9,500 raised by Knox United

BELGRAVE - Over $2,000 was raised for
the Tornado Relief Fund and $7,500 was
raised for missions by the Knox United
Church.
Those figures were released at the
church's annual meeting held January 26
following the service.
Thirty-six members were present with
Rev. John G. Roberts as chairman and Mur-
ray Scott as secreta:
Rev. Roberts opened the nieeting. Murray
Scott read the minutes of the last meeting.
Lewis Stonehouse presented the financial
statement and reported a good year with a
balance on hand. Lewis Stonehouse and
Rev. Roberts thanked the members for their
support both local and abroad for 1985.`
Elected to session to retire in 1988 were
Clifford Coultes and Laura Johnston.
Elected to the board *of Stewarts t� retire in
1988 were Mike Cottrill and John Nixon and
Trustee to retire in 1987 was Ross Anderson;
Trustee to retire in 1990 was ' Mrs. Robert
Grasby.
New ushers added were Chris Mickie,

Superintendent reported another good year,
although enrolment was down in 1985. Sun-
day School activities include support of a
Foster Child and Missions through tli,e White
Gift Fund.
Rev. Roberts reported on the Youth
Group. It has 34 members. Four members
including Donna Higgins, Greg Walton,
Paul Coultes and Robert Gordon attended
TOC Alpha.
George Michie reported 111 families
received the United Church Observer. The
cost per family in 1986 will be $5.50.
The Country Fayre will be held again this
year on June 21. The target set for Missions
and Service was set at approximately
$8,000.
Clifford Coultes presented the 1986
budget.
Jack Taylor expressed thanks on behalf of
the congregation to Rev. and Mrs. John
Roberts for their excellent leadership dur-
ing the past year.
The next annual meeting will be held
January 25, 1987.

visited last. Tuesday with Mrs. Jim Lamont.
Edith Pidgeon had the misfortune of fall-
ing m her home and fractured her ankle.,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby and Mrst

Erin of Ilderton to help celebrate Tara's bir-
thday.
Roger Bieman, Mrs. John Leppington of
Clinton, Douglas Bieman of Kincardine and
Mrs. Albert Bieman attended the funeral of
Mrs. Bieman's sister-in-law Maletta
McKelvie of Hanover at the Richardson
Allard Funeral Home, Hanover on January
24.

Cook were Mr. and Mrs. William Coultes,
Andrea and Alison, Mr. and Mrs. Mark
Matheson and Lisa of Molesworth, Ken
Dairs of RR 1 Wroxeter, Margaret Larkin,
Waterloo, Brian Wightman of Auburn and
Joanne Coultes of Victoria, BC.
Weekly Euchre
Nine tables were in play at the weekly
euchre which was held in the Women's In-
stitute Hall on January 22.
Winners were: Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse,
high lady; Helen Martin, novelty lady; Mrs.
Les Vincent, low. lady. John Currie, high
man, Stanley Black, novelty man; and Paul
Good,low man.

Duff's United holds annual meeting

WALTON - Duff's United Church con-
gregational annual meeting was held
January 19 following a pot luck meal ap-
proximately 35 attended.
Bonnie Lamble chaired the meeting with
Rev Cheryl Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa of
Egmondville in attendance. Marilyn
McDonald was the secretary and read last
year's minutes.
There was a moments silence in memory
of Rae Houston, Dirk Boettcher, John Gor-
don and Grant Kealey,, who had past away
during the year. There were five baptisms
reported through the year those being Kevin

There were very encouraging reports
given by all organizations connected With
the work of the church. There was a discus-
sion of the Bluevale-Walton arrangement.
Everyone has been pleased with the
brighter financial support.

It was decided there would be no Good
Friday Service. Church service on Easter
Sunday has bet i changed to a new time,
11:30 a.m.; due o the pancake breakfast at
Bluevale prior to their morning service.
• Palm Sunday is March 23 at Duff's with
Rev. Cheryl Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa in
charge of the Communion Service. The next
board meeting is set for February23..
