Sunday Worship in Knox United Church
was in charge of thq,minister Gary T. Shut,
tleworth. Organ prelude was by Lori
Million. r
Junior choir sang You Know Lord under
the direction of Mrs. Allan Webster and
pianist Lori Millian.
Junior congregation was in charge of
Margo Middlekamp, Donna Lynn and Lori
Armstrong.
The minister's sermon was entitled
tumbling Blocks to Spiritual Power.
4111 Offering was received by Murray Rollin -
on and Peter Verbeek. January 26th will be
Holy Communion Service followed by the
annual meeting.
Personal News
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robertson of
Meaford and Bonnie Armour of° Waterloo
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin and
Mrs. E. Straughan.
Ross Robinson returned hgrne from Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital on the
weekend.
J.K. Young of Mitchell visited recently
with Ellen Johnston and Laura Phillips.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Cartwright spent the
weekend in Toronto with their daughter,
Lorri who is attending Humber College.
Silver Top Dinner
The Silver Tops had their potluck dinner
on Wednesday, January 15 at the Communi-
ty hall with 34 members present. The after-
noon was spent playing cards and shuf-
fleboard.
The weekly euchre party was held
Wednesday, January 15 at the Community
hall and the winners were: High lady, Kay
Lapp; low lady, Marg Brooks; high man;
Len Shrobrook; low man, Ray Hannah;
novelty, Jane Glousher.
Auburn WMS
The January meeting of the Auburn
Presbyterian WMS was held at the home of
Mrs. Warner Andrews. The president Mar-
tha Daer presided and gave the call to wor-
ship.
The devotional was in charge of Lillian
Letherland who read the scripture portion.
The meditation was on The New year
followed by prayer.

HENSALL - Deanna Brock welcomed
eight members to the UCW meeting with a
poem "1986".
Kay Mock gave a devotion, Mona Alder -
dice conducted the business.
Dates to remember are:
January 23 - the Annual Church Meeting,
January 27 - Presbyterial at Exeter United
Church,
March 7 - World Day of Prayer, and
April 9 - Barbecue at Hensall United Chur-
ch.
Grace Drummond showed a film on the
Canadian Iridian and the church at the
anuary 13 meeting of the Hensall United
,hunch Women.
Grace Drummond and Jean Wareing
served a lunch.
Three Links
The Three Links Seniors met on January
14 with president Aldeen Volland presiding.
There were 23 members and one guest pre-
• sent. It was decided to have a euchre party
on January 28 at 2 p.m. Everyone is
welcome.
Following the business portion of the
meeting, euchre was played with the enter-
tahunent committee in charge.
Shuffleboard Played
Twenty one attended shuffleboard and
cards on January 16 at the Hensall Com-
munity Centre. Four games winners were:
Walter Spencer - 304, John Pepper - 207 and
Elsie Carlile -197.
' Three game winners were; Dorothy
Britnell - 248, and Alf Ross -164.
Bantams Split Games
The Hensall Bantams won and lost this
week as they travelled to Goderich and Ex-
eter.
On January 15 the bays were ho.stP(i by
Goderich. Hensall managed to come out
ahead 7-5 in a rough hard hitting game. Hen-
sall's Jason Imanse assisted by Steve Mc-
Cullough opened the scoring in the first with
Goderich tying it up 27 seconds later.
McCullough, assisted by Rob Volland and
Scott Bell, once again put Hensall ahead.
Then Bell assisted by Volland and Imanse
put Hensall ahead by two.
Hensall opened the scoring with Brian
Moir assisted by Andy Phillips hitting his
mark within the first two minutes. Goderich
responded and dominated the second period
with Imanse and Volland teaming up to get
one more for Hensall.
Goderich tied the score early in .the third,
but Brian Moir, assisted by Jim Dickens and
Scott Bell, once again put Hensall ahead.
Moir assisted by Rob Taylor marked up the
insurance goal in the dying minute of the
third.
On January 18 the boys travelled to Ex-
eter and were defeated 4-2.
Jim Dickens, assisted by Brian Moir,
opened the scoring in the first, but Exeter
responded with three goals. The second
period was scoreless and Exeter was first on
the scoreboard in the third.,
With just 14 seconds left Jim Dickens
scored Hensall's second goal unassisted but
it was- a case of too little too late as the.
buzzer sounded to end the game.
The boys' next game is January 29 when
they will host Mitchell.

Minor Hockey Day
Be sure to mark February 22 on the calen-
dar. This is Hensall's Minor Hockey Day
and each team from the Tykes to the Ban-
tams will be hosting a team. A great day of
fun even if you don't have a hockey player in
your house.

commemorating his many years of dental
service to his community.

Palmer of Clinton, along with Dr. Bill Bruce
of Kincardine and Dr. John Corbett of Ex-
eter, was honored at the Wingham and
District Dental Society's Chr; turas party.
A PASTY TO GO...
The study portion was in charge of Martha
Daer who read a Missionary, story from the
Mission Update.
Huron Chapel
Missionary Church
The new year was ushered t an Adult
Fellowship gathering held at\ t chapel.
Games, film, lunch and prayer made up the
program.
Many hours have been spent in renovating
and decorating the parsonage in prepara-
tion for the arrival of the new pastor and his
wife, Rev. James and Lorraine Carne. The
house was finished sufficiently on January
10 to have a surprise house warming and kit-
chen shower for them.
Sunday, January 12 was the occasion for
the installation service for Pastor Carne.
Jim -Campbell, chairman of the official
board, was in charge. Rev. Gary Shut-
tleworth, ,pastor of the Auburn United Chur-
ch, read the scripture. Joy Collins, youngest
of Pastor Carne's four daughters, provided
the special music.
Rev. Ed Prosser, District Superintendent
preached the sermon and administered the
charge to the new pastor and the congrega-
tion. Pastor Carne thanked the congregation
for their' gracious welcome and their
generosity which placed more than $300
worth of groceries In the parsonage pantry.
David Baan responded to the charge for
the congregation, expressing appreciation
for the ministry of the new pastor and his
wife that had been received since they first
supplied the pulpit last July. Ninety people
were present for the service.
On January 14 the Missionary Women In-
ternational met at,the home of Marilyn
Campbell to heaBarbara Sparks, a
member of the local congregation who has
been serving as a missionary in Nigeria. She
will be ministering also in the services on
January 26.
