Packards Model T's Chev's Rabbitt's Buick's Londesboro Mens Atom goalie registers fourth shutout On January 11, Clinton Atom goaltender Derek Hoggarth recorded his fourth shutout of the season as Clinton blanked Milverton 1- 0 on a third period goal by Shawn Chipchase. • Clinton 1 Milverton 0 Clinton's defence, comprised of Shane MacDonald, Scott Wright, Scott Shaddick and Scott Rathwell played a strong game in front of Hoggarth. For Chipchase, it was his 45th goal of the season. The winning goal came when Scott Wright intercepted a clearing passat the Milverton blueline. Wright slid a pass over to Chipchase who drilled a 30 -foot wrist shot high into the right corner at 5:32. • Clinton 5 Milverton 1 Back in Milverton on January 13, the Clin- ton Atoms completed a home -and -home series with Milverton by defeating the nor- thern crew 5-1. Clinton opened up a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Danny Wildfong and Chris Ken- nedy. Mark Livermore earned the only assla p Wildfong goal In the second period, at the 4;30 mark, Chris Kennedy scored his second goal of the game to increase Clinton's lead to 3-0. Mark Livermore took the original shot on goal and Chris Kennedy easily scooped up the re- bound for the goal. Before the end of the se- cond period Milverton's Kyle Baillie spoiled Derek Hoggarth's bid for a secend con- . secutive shutout. In the third period, Shawn Chipchase's unassisted goal at 3:12 gave Clinton a 4-1 edge. Mark Livermore's 15th goal of the season, on a set UD from hard-wnrkino Dan- ny Wildfong and defenceman Scott First meet for CHSS track team LONDON - On January 5, a portion of the CHSS 1986 track and field team atten5led an All Comers Meet at the University of Western Ontario. This was an introductory meet for all the competitors and some good results were turned in. Due to the fact that all of the events were open to high school and univer- sity competitors, the placings were not ter- ribly relevant but the times and distances were. In the track events, the following times were recorded: In the 1500 metre races, Ming Lee recorded a good. time of four minutes 41 seconds, Chris Lobb 4:43, Steve SrnJch 4:58, Rob Radford 5:15, Heng Lee 5:20 and Heather Brownridge 6:01. In the 1,000 metre race Ming Lee ran a strong 2 minutes, 58 seconds race followed by Steve Souch at 3:11 and Heng Lee at 3:27. Heather Brownridge ran the event in 3:45. In the 300 metre race sprint, Rob Radford's time was 42.8 Seconds and Rob Mc llan's was 45.1. seconds. In the shot put event, Julie Feltham had a best throw of 8.51 metre followed by Alana Colquhoun at 7.55 metre and Lori Leibold at 7.21 metres. Derek Jefferson had a best throw of 8.51 metres with the 12 lb. shot. Overall, the meet provided a useful in- troduction to competition for a number of competitors for this season. Mites blast russels BRUSSELS - Clinton Mites travelled to Brussels on January 11 to take on the Brussels Sprouts. When it was over, the Clinton team came out looking like the Jolly. White Giants as they beat the Sprouts 14-2. Clinton 14 - Brussels 2 Clinton received some fine goaltending from Chad Chipchase and Brennan Crawford. The defence also played well with some -good passing plays to the forwards. Joey MacDonald led the Clinton squad with seven goals with Chad Chipchase and Steven King getting two apiece. Adding single goals were Brennan Crawford, Trevor Buruma and Darryl De Ruyter. The Brussels team managed to tuck in two goals due to the fact that the boys saw one of the mothers with her camera out.
