IWRONVIEW - The carols and music of
Christmas are traditional, and yet each
year as the, festive season approaches,
residents look forward to the inspiring
message they bring.
Huronview residents were kept busy over
the holidays with the following activities:
In the evening on December 16, the
Laketawn Band of Goderich, under the
direction of Mr. Mullen, presented an ex-
cellent concert of instrumental music and
also accompanied for the singing of carols.
December 17 was another exciting day_._
when the musical guests were tlhe Foghorns
and Seniors' choir from Goderich. The
Foghorns always have an interesting pro-
gram and they performed splendidly.
This was the Tlt'st time residents had the
opportunity to herr the Seinen' Choir.
There were about 40 people in the choir, and
under the direction of Erla Stewart, provid-
ed an outstanding concert of music and
song. 3
The residents enjoyed another musical
treat when the "No Notes Jug Band" from
Goderich performed December 18. There is
never a dull moment when this lively group
:of men entertains.

spent Christmas holidays with her brother

Mae Hutton of Wingham stayed from
December 29 to January 1 with her brother
Mr. and Mrs. Clare Vincent.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dahmer, Kerrie,
Melissa and T.J. of Cobourg visted on New
Year's Day with her grandparents Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Burns.
Christmas visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Anderson were Helen Anderson of

Staff Sergeant Richard and Jean Shad-
dick,Sandra, David, Lynn and Nancy of Ot-
tawa spent last week with his parents Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Shaddick.
Christmas Day visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Johnston were Earl and Marilyn
Johnston of Stratford and Bernie O'Neil and
Anita Van Massenhoufin.
Mr. and Mrs. Reg Lawson and Elizabeth '
spent January 3 and 4 in London with his
sister Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Warren.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Hunking,. Mrs. Pat Hunking and families on
the death of brother Rayllunking of Landon
on January 5. He was 56.
Mr. and -Mrs. Lorne Hunking, Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Duizer, Stephen, Shannon, Laurel
and Mark Mitchell were New Years guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Art Hunking of Exeter.
WI cards
There were five tables of euchre players
at the card party on January 3. The winners
were: lone hands, Hazel Watkins; low,
Edythe Beacom; men's high, Glen Carter;
lone hands, Bert Daer and low, Lorne Hunk-
ing. In charge of the card party was Beth
Knox assisted by Alice Buchanan. The next
card party will be held or January 17. The
WI Canadian Industries meeting will be held
on January 8 at 2 p.m. Note the change of
time.
United Church
Rev. Snihur and Clara Riley greeted the
congregation for the services held on
December 29. Shannon Duizer, Melanie
Knox, Kim Salverda and Joanne Wilts acted
as ushers.
After the announcements, Rev. .Snihur
presented Tim Lyons with a bible on
graduation from the junior congregation.
The children's time consisted of the singing
of Away in a Manger and the reading of a
story. The junior teachers were Florence
Cartwright and Brent Radford.
The sermon for the service was entitled
"To Kill the Christ." - -
For the January 5 service, Rev. Snihur
and Darlene McClinchey greeted the con-
gregation. Ushers were Russell .Nesbitt,
Michael Radford, David Whyte and Jeff
Vincent. -_..
lEtev. Snihur announced the Bible study
group, the youth group and the choir prac-
tises will be returned to their normal times
after the holidays. January 12 will be Sing
Time at the church. The annual congrega-
tion meeting will be held at the church on
January 19 followed by a potluck dinner. All
reports were to be given to Kim Wright on
January 8.
The flowers in the, urch were placed by
the Fotbergill's in loving memory of June's
mother Mrs. Colonel Marks who was buried
on January 2.
The children's time was marked by the
• singing of I've Got The Joy. The junior
teachers were Barbara and Theresa Knox,
The anthem was a duet with Lisa Bosman
and her mother Barbara who also accom-
panied on piano. The sermon given by Rev.
Snihur was My Prayer for 19116. -
