JANUAR In order to celebrate Tuckersmith's Sesquicentennial, a logo had to be drawn up by local residents. Margaret Rogerson (left) of RR5 Clinton and June Cooper of Kippen, showed off the new crest at the Vanastra Curling Club on January 12. The original was designed from drawings from local school pupils. It portrays some aspects of the township, such as the historic Van Egmond House in Egmondville, wheat and a plow for agriculture, a candle for the friendliness of the residents and a radar screen for the former RCAF Base, new Van.9stra. FEBRUARY 1985 was a year of celebration for Goderich Township residents as they held year-144ng events for their sesquicentennial. On February 15, ladies packed up lunches, "rapped them in pretty paper and watched as they were auctioned off to the gentlemen•in the crowd at the..Goderich Township Box Social. The•o1(1 fashioned Valentine party was sponsored by former studetns at SS No. 6. Pat Rivett acted as auctioneer. MAY . Liberal leader David Peterson trade a quick tour of the Clinton Public Hospital, stopping to visit with patients. He was in Clinton during his campaign to remind people of the hosspital's closure threats nine years ago, a moved proposed by then minister of health Frank Miller. The half hour visit included some mainstreeting and a visit to Bartliff's Bakery. ,JUNE Rhonda Lobb was crowned the Clinton Fair Queen for 1985. OCTOBER A fire at Bayfield Boats in Vanastra was 'disastrous, but everyone pulled together, re- opening on October 8 of last year, only 19 Months after the fire.
