A KEEPER!!!
A year ago, we introduced Wiltmann's Black
Forest -style Ham Steak, and since then, at $6.59/kg,
or $2.9911b, it has become one of our most popular
meat dept. items. Now we're introducing a new
version flavoured with maple. It's the same low price, available at L, LS, NF, Z, SI.
While testing recipes for this issue, Big Al Morris from Tyler, Texas, (who gave us Big Al's
Texas Dinner Roast a few years back) tasted the following dish and declared: "THIS
RECIPE ISA KEEPER!" •
WILTMANN'S BLACK FOREST -STYLE HAM STEAK WITH GINGER–
CHUTNEY SAUCE
1. Cut a 1/2 -inch (1 cm) thick quarter -sized piece of fresh ginger root into thin strips: In a
small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp (15 mL) butter. Add ginger root and.cook,
stirring, 1 to 2 minutes, orjust until golden. Add 6 tbsp (90 mL) top-quality peach chutney
and 1/2 cup (125 mL) wite wine. Increase heat to medium high and cook; stirring
occasionally, for about 10 minutes, or until sauce thickens. Transfer to sauceboat.
2. Pat Wiltmann's Black Forest -style Ham Steak with damp.paper toweling.'In a large,
heavy skillet, heat 1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil over medium high heat; add ham and te[dy,
turning once, for about 4 minutes, or until ham is heated through and lightly brown
Transfer to heated serving platter and serve with sauce. Serves 2 to 4.
