If I were an elf I would work all day and sleep all night. The next day I would awake to make many toys. I would make a super- man doll. I would make a truck. Then I would eat supper and go to sleep. Ricky Cook Grade 1 If I were an elf I would make dolls, toys, houses, games and jump up and down and make cookies, milk and orange juice for Santa. Corey Prouse a Grade 1 If I were an elf I would make candy, toys, dolls, toy houses, tennis rackets, balls, feed the reindeer and help Santa get ready to go to give the toys away. Andrew Morley Grade 1 If I were an elf I would make boats, dolls, string, fishing poles, games, toy monkeys, cars, Barbie doll houses and books. I would work up north in the elf's house. I would work for Santa Claus. I would also make stuffed an' 1/..ls balls and fishing hooks. They, too, need to have their own special times with their friends and celebrate in their own special way. To keep them happy and to heighten their feeling of being a part of things, let them plan a Christmas or holiday party of their own. This includes the three, four and five- year -olds, as well as older children. While you might strive to plan an original menu for youradult parties, the opposite is generally what kids love. . Your child will probably opt for traditional refreshments, such as cake, ice cream, soft drinks or milk and candy, as . well as traditional gariles including Pin the Tail on the Donkey, and Hide and Seek (if you have the room and the patience). Finally have Santa make an early visit to your home to pass out gifts. Participation counts The more involved your child is with planning, the more meaningful the experience. Since it's. only once a year, put the frosting on double thick and everyone will have fun. Decide on the• date of the party and whom •you will invite. If it's just a few neighborhood playmates, phone their parents and see what day is most convenient for everyone. If you're inviting the entire school class, phone the teacher and discuss your plans.
