Feelings of a Christmas tree. . .
Little evergreen learns a lesson

Tree knows all

The Christmas tree .will feel happy when
the children feel happy. It likes to be
decorated. It knows when children are get-
ting at their presents and their sister and
brother and mother and father's presents.
We put the Christmas tree in a stand, and on
the top of the tree we put an angel. -

Once upon a time I was a little evergreen
tree. I was so happy because it would soon
be Christmas.
Soon I heard some footsteps coming
toward me. I could see five people corning
toward me. There were three children. One
was climbing a tree.
The father said, "I guess we will have to
make a tree. Wait., I think I see just the tree
we are looking for. It is just the right size.
We will saw this one down."
"Ow, ouch, ouch, ouch! — Oh that hurts,
but I'm glad to have a sled ride. Oh, this is
fun.
"Hey, where are they taking me now?
Awww, its nice to be in some dirt again. Why
do they have to put all these things on me? I
guess it is because they want me to look
pretty for Christmas."
They are lucky having all those good
things to eat.
"Hey! 1 hope that cat will rest under me.
Goody, he is!
"0 look, Boots is under the tree! Lets get
him out."
Lonely tree picked,
By CARRIE ANSLEY

Once upon a time, there was a tree. A
lonely tree, because all the other trees did
not like him. So they called him names, and
he felt sad. Then the day came when it was
almost Christmas, and all the trees were ex-
cited. A truck came and took the little tree.
Arid the other trees were sad, because they
were not picked and they did not want the
tree to go. So they learned their lesson..

How did you get so tall?
very, happy. And Pauline's dad told her to
go tell her sitter to get her clothes on. The
tree 1ookea pretty witn the iignts on rum.
Then the family went to, their Grandma and
Grandpa's house for supper. All the way
there they were looking for a better
Christmas tree than theirs. All the way they
couldn't find any better Christmas trees
than theirs. Even with their Grandma's tree
they thought theirs was the best. And the
tree felt that he was the best Christmas tree
too. And Pauline's dad hung candy canes on
the tree too.
On Christmas morning Pauline got up ear,
ly to wake up her sister Margaret Ann,
because their dad said that on Christmas
morning they could have a candy cane' if
they got up at 7 o'clock or before.
And do.you know when they got up? They
got up at 5:10, and the candy canes were
good.

Once when I was just a little evergreen I
was talking to the older evergreens. I was
asking them how they got so tall. They
answered "In a few years you will be about
as tall as this too. Any more questions?"
"Yes, one more, how old do you have to be
to become a Christmas tree". •
I.n a few years he was as tall as the other
trees. Then the evergreen's wish came true.
Some people came and chose him. He was
very happy until they started to cut him
down.
But after he got to the place where they'
,lived, they put him in a painted pail with
water in it. Pauline asked her Dad when
they were going to put the decorations on the
Christmas tree.
Her Dad said, "In a few minutes."
