The feelings of a Christmas tree
The happiest
Christmas tree
By APRIL BROMLEY

Once upon a time there lived a tiny tree.
He lived in the woods. All the big trees
laughed at the tiny little tree. They were
sure they' d get picked for a Christmas tree.
The little spruce tree was sad. He wanted
them to stop calling him names and
laughing at him. He really wanted to be a
big beautiful Christmas tree.
Then one day just before Christmas, •a
man came and took out an axe. Then he
chopped the little tree down, for now he was
bigger. The little tree didn't even notice that
he had got a lot bigger. He was so happy.
The man took the tree home in his truck.
When his family saw the beautiful tree they
danced around the tree. It made the tree so
happy.
After that they decorated the tree into a
beautiful Christmas tree. The Christmas
tree was so happy he wondered if the Other
trees got picked to be Christmas trees. He
was so happy he almost wanted to get up
and walk over to tell all the trees in the
woods. But he knew not to. Soon he forgot all
the trees in the woods.
He was thinking of what was going to hap-
pen after Christmas. He was thinking awful
things,' like that they were going to throw
him in the garbage or burn hirn. He had
awful dreams that night. But he had forgot-
ten that it was Christmas night. He forgot to
be happy.
In the morning he saw all these toys and
suddenly he remembered that it was
Christmas morning. But on him there. was a
note that said, "Dear tree, don't think about
what they will do to you. They are very, very
Onice people. They will try to keep you until
next•Christmas. And if you will really try to
live you will. Bye bye! from Sant Claus".
That made him feel. so happy! It made
him feel like somebody put some powder on
him so it would make him happy.
Santa Claus was right. They did put him
upstairs and water him every day. Helived
until next Christmas. In fact he lived for
many, many, many Christmases. He is still
alive now.
He is the happiest of all the Christmas
trees in the world:

The happiest Christmas ever
By TINA BURKHOLDER

Once upon a time there was a Christmas
tree. He was small and all the other
Christmas trees were bigger than him and
stronger than hirn. He felt sad because no
one wanted him.
Then one cold night a family came in the
store. They were looking for a Christmas
tree that was small and not too big. When
the little girl set sight on the . small
Christmas tree she said, "Oh please Mom
and Dad. Can we get that Christmas tree?
Please can we?"
"Well, let me see. How much does the
Christmas tree, over there in the corner cost
M. Owen?"
"Oh let me see. Ah, it costs 40 dollars".
"Then we will get it",
So they took the Christmas tree home.
Mom said, "We'll decorate it tomorrow".
"Oh Mom, can't we decorate it tonight?"
asked Billy and Elizabeth. "Please,
please?"
"No, we can't. It has been a long night,"
said Daddy.
Meanwhile, the Christmas tree was feel-
ing sad because he was cold and wet. A
large tear rolled down his face. the next day
Billy and Elizabeth's father went out and
brought the poor Christmas tree into th,
house. He set him up. Then . Billy an('
Elizabeth helped decorate the tree.. Pretty
soon the small Christmas tree was both hap-
py and looked nice too.
After they had decorated the tree they
sang some carols and opened some
presents. It was the happiest Christmas
ever, thought Billy and Elizabeth.
