Discount
stamp sales
are brisk
Sales of Canada Post's discount stamp
packs are reported as brisk in many post of-
fices across Huron Division ( southwestern
Ontario). The packs, which went on sale a
month ago, sell for $3.20 and contain ten 32 -
cent Christmas stamps, two cents less than
the normal domestic first class rate.
The stamps are for use only on greeting
card envelopes bearing the correct postal
code and mailed to destinations within
Canada before January 31. After that,
surplus discount stamps can be used on any
mailable matter in conjunction with other
regular issue postage stamps. The packs
will go off sale on December 16.
In co-operation with the gift packaging
and greeting card association of Canada,
Canada Post will offer a five cent reduction
on postage for Christma31986. The rate will
be available to users of greeting card
envelopes bearing a pre-printed matrix on
which the postal code can be 'ticked'. The
'specially printed envelopes are the product
of a mutual effort with the greeting card in-
dustry to extend across Canada the 'Stick 'n'
Tick', concept that was tested in several
Canadian cities ) including London) last
Christmas.
