Club receives an early Christmas present

Flynn; men's high, Stewart Blackwell, lone
hands, Irene Finlayson. The next meeting
will be on January 14 at 2 p.m.
Third Candle
The third Advent candle at Carmel
Presbyterian Church on December 13 was
lit by Winnie SkPa and Margaret Hnaparty
gave the story on love.
Organ and piano duets by Carolyn Love
and Dorothy Taylor featured a medley of
Christmas music. Joanne Verlinde played
Christmas carols on her accordion.
The Christmas service will be held on
December 22 with special music for the oc-
casion. Everyone is reminded of the carol
service which will be at Cromarty on
December 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Herb Stretton has returned home from the
hospital. Get well soon.
Bantams on spree
The Hensall Bantams went on a shooting
spree December 11 when they hosted and
defeated Mitchell 14-0.
Rob Wareing recorded his first shutout of
the season as Mitchell was kept tied up and
only had a few shots on goal.
Jason Imanse was top scorer for Hensall
with four goals and four assists followed by
Scott Bell who had four goals and two
assists. Rob Taylor marked up two goals
and three assists for his team. Brian Moir
chalked up two goals and one assist with
Jim Dickens getting one goal and two
assists. Wayne Scotchmere recorded one of
each with Rob Volland and Andy Phillips
both recording one assist. The boys will host
Zurich on Dec. 18 at 8:30.

and Bruce and Janet of Strathroy visited
with their mother Mabel Shirray on
December 15.
Alma Horton has returned to hospital. She
is wished.a speedy recovery.
Christmas hymns highlight meeting
HOLMESVILLE - The U.C.W. held their
Christmas meeting on December 11. Leder
Isabel Sturdy opened the worship meeting
and read an article entitled Joy to the
World.
The hymn, Joy to the World, was followed
by,a Christmas reading given by Kaye Har-
ris.
Nineteen members answered rolls call,
giving their favorite food prepared by
mother for Christmas.

Christmas stockings were taken.
President Isabel Harris opened the
business meeting and the minutes and cor-
respondence were read by the secretary.
The treasurer's report was given and
reports from the committees.
Plans were made to give hampers and
visit the shut-ins during December.
Donations to 11 services were sent out
from the group in November.
The new president from 1986-87, Charlotte
Norman, thanked Isabel Harris for her
leadership during 1964-85.
The meeting :closed with the singing of
Hark the Herald Angels Sing and repeating
the Mizpah Benediction.
A. lunch was served by Charlotte Norman,
Alice Porter and Betty Stoner.
Students celebrate books in Clinton
CLINTON - On December 6, the students,
teachers, and pre-schoolers at the Clinton
and District Christian School held their an-
nual December party with many parents
present.
The theme of this year's party was Let's
Celebrate Books.
All classes filed into the school's gym-
nasium. Here they found themselves sur-
rounded by hundreds of posters displayed on
the, walls. These posters were the result of a
contest held earlier in which each student
portrayed a character from a favorite book.
The book theme was further carried•out• in
the appearance of the students: Each had
arrived in the morning dressed in a nocturne
portraying a character from a book.
Throughout the gym one saw animals of
every kind. There were dogs, cats, mice and
monkeys. Even Dr. -Doolittle had graced the
party with his presence.
Also present were Sherlock Holmes, Alad-
din, Old Mother Hubbard, Cinderella and
her two step -sisters along with a multitude
of other well known personalities.
The pupils were welcomed by a lo+ng-
eared bunny ( a teacher, Mr. Bos) who com-
plimented all the students on their very en-
thusiastic participation in both the poster '
and the costume contest: He welcomed
Laurie Erb who took advantage of the day's

CLINTON - The Golden Radar Christmas
party was held December 11 'at Ontario
Street United Chtlrch with 60 present.
Ladies of the church,served a turkey dinner.
One minute of silence was ,.held for the
deceased.

HURON COUNTY - A public meeting was
held on October 21 to discuss health planning
in Huron County. The minutes and collected
questionnaire responses have been
summarized into a report and are now
available to all interested people. Anyone
wanting a copy can pick one up at their local
hospital or library.
Further input is still being sought. Those
interested are asked to review the report

high, Lila Johnston and Robert Welsh; low
Pearl Eyre and Doug Bezzo; lone hands
were Elmer Trick and Fanny Lobb.
A draw on the afghan was won by Edna
Stewart. Dorothy•Flagg won the pillow and
Olive Ball won the mittens. Elizabeth Medd
won a small basket and Muriel Jones won
the ceramic plates which were donated by
Dorothy O'Connell. Lorna Radford won a
small.. basket. Baskets of ,fruit were also
given as prizes for the euchre.

assembly in order to hand out a number of
awards relating to the Pro -Life Walk-a-thon.
Trophies were presented to. Trevor and
Kevin. Schilthuis for doing the distance in
the shortest time. Coralie Dykstra received
the trophy for being the youngest walker. As
well, the school received the trophy for Best
Participation. -
With these presentations complete, the
students sat back with their popcorn to en-
joy .the animated Walt Disney film, Jungle
Book.
At intermission prizes were handed out to
several students judged to have the best
costumes: Kindergarten, Matthew Brooks,
Care Bear; Grade 1, Bernard Ten Pas,' Lit-
tle Boy Blue; Grade 2, Joseph Boland, Tin
Man; Grade 3, Sandra Vanderlaan, Mary
Poppins; Grade 4/5 Carolyn Jongejan,, Alad-
din; Grade 5/6, Ben Dykstra, Tin Man;
Grade 7,' Dawn Ten Pas, Jezebel; Grade 8,
Jeremy Jongejan, Ingeborg Van Eeden,
Robin Hood and Missy.
Prizes were given for the best posters and
when that was completed, drinks and
snacks were handed out and the remainder
of the film was sawn.
At 2:30 p.m. pupils returned to their
classrooms where first term reports were
handed_ out, desks were cleaned up, and
pupils were dismissed for the weekend -
hopefully stimulated to read some good
books.
