'There has been concern especially among Anglicans regarding the safety of "sharing the common cup" in the service of Holy Communion. For this reason, our Bishop has consulted with heads of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario; and they assured him that the disease cannot be transmitted by glass, or by living in a home of anyone known to' have the disease. Doctors, 'researchers, and foremost experts. emphasize that this disease is transmitted in three ways: (1) through a contaminated syringe (2) sexual contact r3) from a contaminated blood transfusion. During a time of flu epidemics, or other contagious diseases, an acceptable custom within the church is for anyone taking Holy Communion to dip the Host ( holy bread) in the cup of wine, rather than placing the lips on the cup.
