Seven tables in play at eu

There were seven euchre tables in play at
Auburn Community Hall on Tuesday, Dec.
3. Winners were: high lady, Jane Glousher;
low lady, Dorothy Grange; high man, Ken
McDougall; low man, Gordon Gross and
novelty, Tom Hallam.
Euchre parties are held every Tuesday
night at 8 p.m. in the Community Hall.
As people were gathering to the Holy
Communion service, Christine Bush played
several Christmas carols' on violin, accom-
panied on piano by Lorri Millian.
The Junior Choir sang "The Echo Carol"
under the direction of Mrs. Allan Webster
and Mrs. Gordon Gross as pianist. Rose
Marie Young and Michael Bakker sang solo
parts in the song Christmas. Hymns were
played on organ by Mrs. Barry Millian.
Junior Congregation was run by Joyce
Bean. The minister Gary T. Shuttleworth
chose for his sermon "A Love That Will Not
Open

The celebration of conirnunion was given
by Rev. Gordon Pickell of Goderich,
assisted by Gary T. Shuttleworth.
Offering was received by Teade Bakker,
Gordon Gross, Murray Rollinson and
Rodger Cunningham.
A surprise luncheon, sponsored by the
Youth Group, was held at Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Seer's cabin on Sunday after Church. There
were 65 present foir Maxine's homemade
soup and luncheon.
The 3-M Club and their families would like
to extend an invitation to the "Youth
Group" and their families to go "carolling"
together on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. They
will be gathering at the Church. Dress
warmly and bring a flashlight. Cookies and
hot chocolate will be served after.

Joseph's Hospital, London on Priday, Dec 6
after having eye surgery. He is wishe4.a
speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Park visited en the
weekend with her brother William Anderson
of Newmarket and attended the hockey
game at Maple Leaf Gardens.
Recent visitors with Laura Phillips and
Ellen Johnston were Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Weir of London, J.K. Young of Mitchell, R.J.
Young of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne

About 33 attended the Silver Top pot -luck
dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the Com-
munity Hall. They sent out three dinners
and enjoyed slides of Italy shown by Elliott
Lapp.
Auburn garbage will be picked up Tues-
day, Dec. 24 instead of Christmas Day and
on Tuesday, Dec. 31 instead of Wednesday,
Jan. 1.

Knox United Church Sunday School invite
you to a evening of "Christmas Around The
World" on Saturday Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. at the
Church.
A euchre party was held at the Communi-
ty Hall on Tuesday Dec. 10. Winners were
high lady, Anne Glousher; low lady, Tom
Hallam; high.. man, Ted Mills; low man,
Warner Andrews and novelty, Len
Shrobrook.
The last euchre party until Jan. 8 was on
Dec. 17.
Auburn Garbage will be picked up Dec. 24
instead of Christmas Day and Tuesday
Dec.31 instead of Wednesday Jan. 1.

Gerritt Biemers arrived home after a
three week visit to Holland.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson visited on
the weekend with their son William of
Newmarket. •
Mary Rollison and son Murray have gone
to Toronto to spend the Christmas week with
her daughter Isabelle and Mr. Weston.
Sunday worship in Knox United Church
was held by minister Gary T. Shuttleworth.
Mrs. Barry Millian was organist.
Prelude to the service consisted of
trumpet, saxophone and trombone music
played. by Lori Millian, Steven Millian,
Angela Schneider and Anita Gross.
The junior choir sang two numbers under
the direction of Mrs. Gordon Gross and Mrs.
Allan Webster. A double duet was sung by
Nichole Middlecamp, Karen Bakker, Kevin
Webster and Stewart Bakker.
The third Advent Candle was lit by Don
Haines. The senior choir sang "Merry
Alleluia". The title of the sermon was
"What present can we give to God".
Junior congregation was led by • Gail
Dobie, Lori and Donna Lynn Armstrong and
Julia Glenn. Offering was received by Larry
Plaetzer and Greg Park.
.The Christmas . meeting of the
Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home
•of Mrs. Frances Clark. The President Mar-
tha Daer gave the call .to worship and
welcomed all to the meeting.
The program consisted of Bible readings
and the singing of carols with Carol Daerat
the piano.
A ' dinq entitled "A Challenge at
Christmas in Ethiopia" was given by Viola
Raithby.
The January meeting will be held at the
home of Jean Andrews on Tuesday, Jan. 14
at 1:30
The U.C.W. of Knox United Church held
their Christmas Pot Luck Dinner on Tues-
day, Dec. 10 with 40 in attendance.
The president Lois Haines was in charge
of the after dinner program. The theme of
the meeting was The Star.
Scriptures and meditation were taken by
Betty Marsh and \,MMrs. Peter Verbeek. A
piano solo "Star ofrhe East" was played by
Marjorie McDougall.
Ernest Durnin favored with several
mouth organ numbers accompanied by
Marjorie McDougall. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott
Lapp showed pictures of their recent trip to
Italy.
Mrs. Elliott Lapp thanked the out -going
president Lois Haines for all her week and
effort during the past two years. Offering
went to the Christian Blind Mission of
Africa.
