CLINTON - Over the last couple of months
the Board of. Trustees at Clinton Public
Hospital (CPH) have been very busy after
the summer recess. The hospital is acttv'ely
preparing for another accreditation in-
spection which hill be taking place in the
early part of 1986. The staff at the hospital
feel very confident about this inspection
coming up as all of the recommendations of
the last accreditation survey have been im-
plemented as well as improvements in other
areas.
The Board has approved some renova-
tions to the second floor of the hospital in the
old house section. These renovations will
make a board room, and educa-
tionaUconference room and a hospital
library available in this area. The present
conference room and library will be made
into administration and office areas. The
board has applied for a grant from the
Employment and Immigration Department
through the Job Development Program to
help defray the costs of this renovation pro-
ject.
The new medical centre is progressing
very rapidly and should be open early in the
new year. When the new medical centre is
open the hospital will no longer be hosting
the specialist clinics in the emergency
department area of the hospital. The Board
has made provisions for these clinics to be
conducted in the new centre. The pediatric,
ear, nose and throat, orthopedic, surgical,
urology and dermatology clinics will all be
part of the services that utilize the new
medical centre.
The Board hosted a very successful social
for the staff 'of CPH. During the event, staff
members. received a service pin for the
length of time they have been working at the
hospital. The giving of a service pin to staff
members at CPH is something that was not
done in the past.
The Board of Trustees has passed a policy
whereby they support Affirmative Action
and Employment Equity for women in the
hospital workforce. This policy ensures that
all women working at Clinton Public
Hospital will have the same opportunities
for promotion within the organization as
. men, aswell as receiving the same oppor-
tunities for educational advancement, to
achieve this goal.
