CLINTON - 41even-year-old Scott Jewitt
is a busy guy. He participates in a number of
sports, sings competitively, enjoys public
speaking, is a straight 'A' student and
delivers papers fol• the London Free Press.
Yet Scott doesn't let his busy schedule irt
terfere with the effort he puts into each ac-
tivity.
Out of a possible 2,000 paper carriers,
Scott was one of 28 recently recognized for
the outstanding job he does delivering the
Free Press to his 41 customers.
In order to win the award, a carrier had to
be nominated by a customer. The customer
fills out a form and sends it into the Free
Press where their employees phone other
customers to see if they are satsified with
the delivery of their paper. In Scott's case3
it was Janet Tench who took the time to
nominated him.
Scott took over the route from his sister,
Lori, in September but he had been helping
her for the past year and a half. While
assisting his sister with the route, Scott took
care of 21 customers. The route soon grew to
39 and is now at 41.
One of the reasons Scott received the
outstanding paper carrier award was the
fact that he always has his papers done on
time.
"The Free Press likes them to be
delivered by 7 a.m.," explained his mother,
Bonnie Jewitt.
Therefore, six days a week, Scott is up at
5:45 a.m. and starting his deliveries by ap-
proximately 6 a.m. Every other Tuesday •
Scott goes from door to door collecting.
Once the papers are delivered, Scott gets.
ready for a full day of school, and when the
bell rings to signal the end of a school day,'
he prepares for hockey, swimming or water
polo, depending on the season.
Despite his action -packed day, Scott
claims he usually gets to bed around 9:30
p.m.; getting a good night's sleep for the up -
corning day.
Scott and his parents were chauffeured to
London where Scott received a trophy and a
picture of himself with the editor and o*ner
of the Free Press. He also received a group
shot with the other winners.
