aptism celebrated at St. Andrew's
KIPPEN - The service at St. Andrew's
United Church on Sunday, December 8
celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism.
The ministry of music was provided by the
choir singing, "I Want to Sing About
Christmas". Barbara Cooper accompanied
at the organ.
Christine Cooper lit the Advent candle of
preparation and reminded the congregation
that as John the Baptist prepared the way
for Jesus, so we must prepare ourselves for
Christmas.
In the children's story, the Reverend
Lorne Keays explained that as we can see
the water mark in a sheet of bond paper by
holding it up to the light, we in the
sacrament of baptism present the baby to
the light of Jesus. In his sermon, Rev. Keays
enlarged on this theme, emphasizing that
the Sacrament of Baptism is an ongoing
family and congregational affair in which
411 are involved in guiding the child and
providing a loving Christian community in
which to live. Kim and Gary Love then
presented their daughter Lindsay Amanda
Love for baptism.
Next Sunday at Kippen is White Gift
service, a combined Sunday school and
church service. Then from 3:15 to 4:15 on
Sunday, December 15 is the Sunday school
skating party in the Hensall Community
Centre, after which all will return to the
Kippen church for refreshments and a visit
from Santa Claus.
The Christmas Eve service this year will
be held in theBrucefield Church at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome.
