Fishing seminars
For two years anglers across Ontario
have boon hooked on the Walker's Special
Old Fishing Seminars. The seminars, laun-
ched in Ontario in 1984, were introduced in
response to widespread requests from
anglers who wanted more information on
Canadian fishing. Last year, the seminars
toured 15 Ontario cities, drawing audiences
of 500 per location. Based on this successful
track record, the seminars will be expanded
nationally in 1986 with participation in the
Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows.
These seminars are designed for recrea-
tional fishermen who want to learn how to
fish more effectively. The seminars cover a
variety of topics such as modern fishing
systems, situational techniques and idiosyn-
cracies of various species. ,conservation
issues, specifically catch and release, are
also addressed..
The program format is comprised of a
comprehensive slide presentation that il-
lustrates points covered during the seminar.
The fishing seminars will be a significant
component of the 1986 Canadian National
Sportsmen's Shows. Beginning in February,
the fishing experts will appear in the Sport-
smen's Shows in Halifax, (Halifax Interna-
tional Boat Shows), Ottawa, Toronto,
Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Van-
couver. In each location the seminars will
be geared to specific regional conditions and
species.
Seminar host and presenter is Glenn
Carr, one of Canada's foremost fishing ex-
perts. The upcoming season marks Glenn's
third year as program director of the

seminars. Key members of the fishing team
include Bob Jones, B.C. editor Outdoor
Canada; John Gourlay,, editor of Eastern
Woods and Waters; Ron Kerr, feature
writer for B.C. Outdoors and Gord Pyzer,
feature writer, Outdoor Canada.
Glenn Carr is one of Canada's foremost
fresh water fishermen. As program director
of the Walker's Special Old Fishing
Seminars for the past two years, plenn has
been instrumental in the success and expan-
sion of the program. In 1986 he will head up
the team of fishing experts.
A top contender in fishing tournaments for
over a decade, Glenn's name is well-known
to anglers in Canada and the U.S. He is con-
sidered a specialist in many aspects of the
sport, with hands-on knowledge about fish
and water conditions. Glenn has acted as a
consultant for TV Ontario's Fish -On Series
and for Outdoor Canada's Total Angling
Conference. He is also an active con-
servationist.
Bob Jones is B.C. editor of Outdoor
Canada. He is a highlyy skilled angler for a
number of species and techniques, most
notably fly fishing and fly tying. Bob is a
seasoned traveller who has fished Europe
and 'North America extensively. He is the
author of Make Your Own Tackle and has
been published in many U.S. and Canadian
publications. In 1981 he won the prestigious
Kortright award.
Jim Gourley is one of the most respected
fly fishermen in eastern Canada. He is
editor of Eastern Woods and Water, and has
been a.feature writer for many publications.
Jim is president of the Nova Scotia Salmon
Association and member of the Board of
Directors of the Atlantic Salmon Federa-
tion.
Ron Kerr is a highly skilled and well
respected angler and hunter. He is the
operations manager, Park Program,
Government of B.C. As well, Ron is a
feature writer and photographer with B.C.
Outdoors.
.Gord Pyzer is Outdoor Canada's fishing
specialist. An all-round fisherman, Gord is
with the Ministry of National Resources in
Thunder Bay.
Mustangs win one, lose two
CLINTON - The Mustangs played three
close scoring weekend games but could
muster only one win to take their season
record to seven wins and two ties against
nine losses.
The win was sweet revenge for the
Mustangs, outlasting arch -rival Brussels by
a score of 4-3 in front of a home town crowd
on November 22. Clinton lost their first
encounter against the Bulls by a 5-2 margin
on November 1. Brussels is currently in first,
place in north division with a 13-2-2 record.

Clinton opened the score at the 6:29 mark
of the first period. Dean Armstrong scored
with Troy Falconer earning an assist. In the
second period, Clinton went up by two with a
power play goal by Bob Dupee with assists
going to Dan Horton and Ron McKay.
Brussels pulled within 'one latein the period
only to have Clinton re-establish their two
goal lead.
Dean Armstrong clicked for his second of
the night with an unassisted goal at the 15:06
mark to end the period.
The, Mustangs started the third period
with a bang, getting a quick goal from Bob
Ladd at the 30 second mark to make the '
score 4-1. Brad Hymers and Travis Lyndon
drew assists on the play. Brussels came
back with two unanswered goals in the
period, but Clinton's one "goal margin held
up to give them the victory.
Mount Brydges 5 - Clinton 2
The Mustangs travelled to Mount Brydges
with their sights set on avenging an earlier
season loss to the Bulldogs. But, it was not to
be as Mount Brydges earned win number 12,
downing the Mustangs 5-2. •
The Mustangs started the game strongly,
getting two first period goals. Wayne Smith
opened the scoring on a power play with
assists going to Randy Vere and Bob Dupee.
Moments later, Mount Brydges tied the
score at 1-1. Clinton 'made the score 2-1 on
another power play goal. Brad Hymers

The rest of the garne 'belonged to the
Bulldogs as they shut down the Mustangs
while putting four goals behind goaltender

aggressive play and went on to lose by a 4-1
score.
In a penalty filled game, Exeter racked up
a total of 30 minutes in penalties compared
to Clinton's 20 minutes. However, the
Mustang's failed to cash in on their power
play opportunities.
Clinton's lone goal was scored by ' Bob
Dupee with assists going to Bob Ladd and
Travis Lyndon.
Clinton will be playing a string of road
games, beginning with Mitchell on
November 29 The next Mustang home game
is on December 20 against Lucan at 8:30
p.m.

Atoms lose to Listowel
CI•,INTON - At the Second Annual
Harriston Atom Tournament the Atoms took
on Mount Forest in their opening game on
November 21.
After a 2-2 tie at the end of the second
period, Clinton erupted for six unanswered
goals to capture a convincing 8-2 victory;
Pacing the Clinton attack was the high -
scoring line of Jason Carter, Shawn
Chipchase' and Scott Jewitt. The trio scored
a total of 17 scoring points in the contest.
Scott Jewitt tallied three goals and three
assists, Shawn Chipchase had one goal and
six assists while Jason Carter picked up two
goals and two assists. Scoring the other two
goals for Clinton were Mark Livermore and
Shane MacDonald. Danny.. Wildfong and
Chris Kennedy picked up assists on the
Livermore goal.
Shawn Chipchase, the centre of Clinton's
big line, was voted the most valuable player
in the game.
Listowel 3 - Clinton 2
In a hard fought game with end-to-end
action, the Listowel Atom Cyclones defeated
Clinton 3-2 on November 23.
All three goals were the result of Clinton's
give-aways in their own end. On the other
hand, Clinton couldn't cash in on their
scoring chances as they missed at least four
clear-cut breakaways.
The loss snapped Clinton's undefeated
streak at 11 games.
Listowel opened the scoring in the first
period as Nathan Bender intercepted a pass
and his shot deflected off a Clinton
defenceman's stick and into the net past
goaltender Derek Hoggart.
Bender scored again before the end of the
period as Clinton's Danny Wildfong, while
attempting to clear the puck from the goal,
accidentally deflected it into his own net.
In the second period Shawn Chipchase
brought Clinton back to within one when he
took a pass from Jason Carter to score. Scott
Shaddick also earned an ass'st on the play.
Just before the end of the period, goaltender
Derek Hoggart pulled a groin muscle and
