Aubrey Bell in charge. l,ee Ann and Brad Hammes, Mat- thew and Tessa Steenstra sang with Cheryl Tamilson playing the guitar. Bill Steenstra and Edward Deeves received the•offering. Evensong,, was held in St. James Mid- dleton Anglican Church at .which time Ar-, chdeacon William Graham dedicated the.il- luminated sign while the congregation • gathered around the sign. Following the ser- vice everyone went to the church hall where' the blessing was said. Blanche Deeves presented Mrs. Graham with a souvenir spoon of Middleton Church. Lunch was served and a social time was en- joyed with the Archdeacon and Mrs. Graham. 'Cgols for peace: Dy you have old tools, us- ed tools, duplicate tools, or good used blankets and candles. Becker-Westerhout Meikel Juergen Becker, son of Juergen and Edna Becker of Goderich, and Shelley •Margaret Westerhout, daughter ,of Tiel and Sandra Westerhout of RR1 • Clinton, were married at Wesley Willis Church in Clinton on October 12. Rev. James Bechtel of- ficiated: The soloist was Barbara Bosman: The matron of honor was Una Armstrong of Stratford, The bridesmaids' were,' Sylke Hickey of Auburn, sister of the groom, Barb Forbes and Cheryl Armstrong, both of Clin- ion. The junior •bridesmaid was. Cindy Westerhout of Whalen Corners, cousin of the bride. The hest man was George Hickey of Auburn, brother-in-law of the groom. The ushers were, Gerald De Graaf of Auburn, Larry Henry of Nile, and Brad Westerhout of RR1 Clinton, brother of the bride. After a reception at the Goderich Township Hall, the couple honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Mr. and Mrs. Becker will reside in Clinton. Gwen Johnston -reported a membership of. 217 regular members and one honorary. Michael Falconer noted that,'the hor- ticultural Society was asked to elect a representative to the Klompen Feest. • It was moved by Bess Fingland that the Nominating Committee and Mernbership Convenor be a committee to review and re- organize the Society. It was suggested that the Flower Shows should be reviewed by the committee in charge. Regretfully the, society , accepted the resignation of president, Mike Falconer. CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27,1.965 --Page 9 rindship Area. obituaries Wopke (Bob) Vriesinga Wopke (Bob) Vriesinga of Clinton, a retired machinist at Dominion Roads in Goderich, died on November 18 in Clinton Public Hospital. He was 68. -, Born in Oudega, Holland on July 2, 1917, he was the son of the late Rykele Vriesinga and the late Tryntje Boonstra. He married his wife Jane Vriesinga on May 31, 1945 in Hasse,lt�, Holland. He moved to Canada in 1951 to`"Wallaceburg, then to London and to Clinton in 1965. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Clinton. He is survived by his children, Mrs. Daniel (Janice) Bakker of Gold River B.C,, Richard of Toronto, Stewart of Peterborough and three grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Mrs. Jaap ( Anna) Van Assen of Haselt, Holland and four brothers, Gerben Vriesinga of Heerenveen, Holland; Aalsen, Sjoerd and Rykele Vriesinga of Hasselt, Holland, He is predeceased by one brother John. The service was held at the Christian Reformed Church in Clinton on November 21. Rev. Homer Samplonius officiated. The pallbearers were Bob Baker, John Kassies Sr., Art Jongejan, John Hoogendoorn, Stewart and Daniel Bakker. The funeral arrangements were made by the Beattie Funeral Home in Clinton. A4 graveside service and interment was held at Clinton cemetery. Wallace George Avery Wallace George Avery of RR3 Clinton died in Clinton Public Hospital on November 22 at the age of 73. Mr. Avery, a retired. custodian at Central Huron Secondary School, was born in Pontypridd, Wales on June 24, 1912. He married Annie Jones in Birmingham, England on September 29, 1943. He came to Canada in 1929 as a home boy through the Salvation Army. He served in the Canadian Army from 1942 until 1945. Mr. Avery returned to Canada in October 1945 and Mrs. Avery came over with the war brides in March 1946. They • lived in Holmesville since 1946. He was a member of the Fellowship Bible Chapel in Clinton. He is survived by one sister, Bessie Avery of Birmingham, England. The funeral and committal service was held at the Ball and Falconer Chapel on November 24. John Martin and Fred Munnings of the Fellowship Bible Chapel officiated. Soloist Cathie Cullen sang Eventide. Interment was at Clinton Cemetery. GEORGE ALBERT VANDERBURGH SR. George Albert Vanderburgh, , Sr., of Goderich died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on November 20,1985 in his 75614 year. Employed by Guenther Tuckey Transport from 1944 - 1959, Mr. Vanderburgh was then employed by Domtar Limited (Mine) until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of Victoria Street United Church. Born in Goderich Township on January 19, 1911, he was a son of the late Thomas Wesley ., Vanderburgh and Ila May Proctor of Clinton. He married the former Evelyn Dale on June 22, 1931 at Wesley Willis United Church, Clinton. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Marion, Mrs. Harvey Hodge of Port Albert; Mildred, Mrs. Charlie Johnston of Nile; Patricia, Mrs. Keith Good of Goderich, and Diane, Mrs. John Buchanan of R, 6, Goderich and two sons, George and his wife, Brenda of Goderich and Dennis and his wife, Valerie, 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A brother Ken of Goderich • and a sister, Donelda, Mrs. Cliff McClinchey of Clinton also survive. He was predeceased by a sister, Isabelle. The funeral service was held at the Stiles Funeral lj ome in Goderich on Friday, November' 22, 1985 at 2 p.m. with Rev. John • D. M. Wood officiating. Pallbearers were Btid Oke, Joe Rumig, George De Jong, Elgin Chambers, Laverne Powell, all of Goderich and Bill Johnstone of Burlington. Burial followed in Maitland Cemetery.
