HCII.LETT CENTRAL SCHOOL
Students kept busy
with various activities
LONDESBORO - Hullett Central School
marched to the Londesboro United•Church
for the Remembrance Day service on
November 11.
The guest speaker was Clare Vincent from
the Blyth Legion. The service was planned
and run by the Grade 8 class. The master of
ceremonies was Kathy Kennedy.
Buddies
Pupils in Grade 1 and Grade 6 have been
assigned as readingbuddies. As part of the
project they are tracing one another on big,
white paper. The partners will then draw
their clothes, weight and measure each
other. The Grade 1 class will color
themselves and put the picture of their.
Grade 6 buddy on the wall for their parents
to see.
-Magazine Campaign
On November 5, the school started a
magazine campaign. By selling the
magazines, the students are also earning
money for the school. 'the .pupils can win.
prizes for the amount of magazines they
sell.
For selling one subscription to Reader's
Digest, the student receives a velco wallet.
If the student sells one sub3cription to
MacLeans or two subscriptions to
Chatelaine, a stuffed polar bear is the prize.
For selling one subscription to Newsweek
the student will receive a knapsack.
Hullett students were selling magazine
subscriptions for a 10 day period which
ended on November 18 with everyone
working hard to win the grand prize - a
seven pound chocolate bar. The grand, prize
went to the Grade 7 class for selling 133
magazine subscriptions.
The top sellers in the school were, Darlene
.Buffinga, Karen Plunkett and Denise Gross
who each lsold 15 subscriptions. Grade 6
• student Iasi Andrews sold 11, Billy Jim Scott
of Grade 5 sold 11, while Greg McClinchy
sold 11 and Paula Allen sold six. Grade 2
students Cheryl Lapp and Becky Wilkinson
sold three each.
Report Cards
On November 22, Hullett students
received their first term reports. On
November 26 and 27, the parent -teacher
interviews were held at the school.
Industrial. hockey and card games highlight the week

The industrial -league hockey action
resumed again last weekend, after it being
omitted due to the hockey tournament in
Blyth the prior weekend.
The first game saw Baintons squeeze past
Watsons by a score of 6-5. The second game
wasn't as close since Mannings trounced on
Hubbords 11-4. The final game proved to be
one of players with equal talents. Radfords
and The Blyth Inn played to a 4-4 tie.
Hockey will • resume next Sunday at 6:30.
Come on out and support them.
The Blyth Tykes returned home with
another'victory on Saturday, after defeating
Zurich 17-0: That's great NET PROFIT!
Lost Heir
There were six tables at the lost heir card
match on November' 27. High lady for the
evening was Fern Howett, of Londesboro
and low lady was Jean Snell. The high man
was Ed Howett and low man went to Gordon
Murray. Plan 'to attend Lost Heir every
Wednesday at 8 p.m., at the Blyth Memorial
Hall.
Euchre scores •
There were nine tables in attendance this
week for euchre. High lady was , Lillian
Letherland, from Auburn: High. man was
Ray Lair. The low lady 'was Mary Shob-
brook, while the low man was Verna
Glazier, Auburn, substituting for a man.
The lady's most lone hands was taken' by
Marg Brooks, from Goderich, while Len
Shobbrook .took the prize for having the
most lone -hands for the men. This week the
special prize went to Hazel Reid • of
Londesboro. Everyone "is invited to. attend

Memorial Hall.
November 27, was another holiday for
Blyth Public School students due to Profes-
sional Development Day. This week,
parents were able to see the teachers of
their children for an, interview, informing
them on how well their children are doing.
The report cards are to be handed out also.
Chimney fire
The firemen were notified of a •chimney
fire at the home of Ross Daer's, west of
Blyth, on the Auburn road. This occurred on
November 20, at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Due to their prompt action, the fire was con-
fined to the chimney and then was put out..

Anyone who has news on the. results of any
hockey games, etc. is asked to please call
me to help keep everyone informed and to
try and get more of the general public out to
support our minor sports. The youngsters
would love reading about their team also.

William James Carter
A Goderich Township native and lifetime Grey Cup day in Montreal on November 24

Nelson (Zella) Patterson of 'Blyth, Mrs.
Margaret Lockwood of Blyth, and two
brothers, Russell of Seaforth and Harold of
Tillsonburg.
