The director will be Bob White, Artistic
Director of Factory Theatre in Toronto.

elderly women struggle to survive on their
UCW studies the Indian plight
CLINTON - Valena Trewartha, a member
of the Afternoon Unit of the Ontario Street
UCW, read from the mandate, a passage on
the current plight of the Indians in society
during a recent meeting with 27 members in
attendance.
The reading entitled The Walls of the In-
visible Prison, clearly portrayed the evils of
racism and discrimination against our
native people.
In summing up the reading, Mrs. Trewar-
tha said that it's our responsibility to
understand- the beast of prejudice in
ourselves, and stop blaming "differences"
m others.
Gertrude Feagan showed pictures of the
Cree Indians at Big Trout Lake where her
xlneagl tons in the British Columbia in-
terior is a comedy about their lives
and eccentricities in the small brightly -
coloured shack they call home. Another off
Suzanne Finlay's plays, Monkeyshines, was
a big hit at BC's Bastion Theatre recently.
Katherine Kaszas will direct.
ANOTHER SEASON'S PROMISE by Anne
Chislett and Keith. Roulston. A heart- ren-
ding story about a farming family struggl-
ing to keep the farm from going bankrupt.
Anne Chislett is well-known across Canada
as the author of The Tomorrow Box and the
award-winning Quiet in the Land. Blyth
resident Keith Roulston has written several
plays for the Blyth Festival, including The
Shortest Distance Between Two Points. This
is their first joint venture. Ms Kaszas will
also direct this workshop. -

7:30 p.m.
A list of things required for Friendship
House in Goderich was read. Everyone
agreed to bring something to the next
meeting to be delivered. Marion Powell
closed the meeting with prayer. Vera
McGregor and her group served a delicious
lunch.
Foresters each bovvlingfinals
The Western Ontario 5 Pin Bowling finals
were held in Woodstock on October 27. Four
teams from the Benmiller Foresters Lodges
made it to the finals.
The winning team was from Benrniller.
They were Marg Swan, Mary Bissett, Brian
McLean, Arlene Curran, Tom Willis and
Doug Fuller. The high singles went to Ruth
Oke and Jack Gilbert and the high five to
Arlene Curran and Doug Fuller, all from
Benmiller.
On Saturday, November 2 the High Chief
Rangers Tournament was held at the Little
Bowl in Goderich with ten teams competing.
Ladies to have gift exchange
CLINTON - Twenty-one ladies attended
the Afternoon Unit UCW Wesley Willis
meeting on November 11.

The UCW decided to have an exchange of
gifts at the Christmas meeting on December
19.
A nominating committee of Bess Fingland
and Daisy Holland will appoint .a new slate
of officers for 1986.,,The report must be in to
Donna Wood by December 4,
Helen Rathwell's group will be in charge
of the December meeting.
Bessie Steepe and Irene McCall gave
readings which were enjoyed by the ladies.
Kae Whitmore won the contest prize. •
A PARTY .TOG
Benmiller Lodge No. 86 was the host for
this tournament. Toronto Lakeshore City
was the winner.
Placing second was Benrniller No. 2 with
Dale Robertson, Ralph and Arlene Curran
and Ted and Sylvia Johnston. Ladies high
single went to Arlene Curran and high five
to Dale Robertson.
The men's high single was John Loader
and high•ffive went to Joe Tarnai, both of the
winning Toronto team.
A dinner was held after at the Candlelight.
Congratulations to Benmiller for having
the most entries in both tournaments and to
the bowlers for a job well done.
