Clinton and are
Marionette Ross
Mrs. Marionette Ross of Huronview, and
formerly of Clinton, died at Huronview on
November 13. She was 96.
Born in Hullett Township on Je 4, 1889,
she was the daughter off the late John Dale
and the late Mary McMichael. She married
William J. Ross, predeceased in 1962, in
Seaforth in 1911.
Mrs. Ross and her husband farmed in
McKillop and Hullett Townships before
moving to Clinton in 1929. She was a
member of the Ontario Street United Church
and a member of the Huronic Rebekah
Lodge No. 306. The lodge held a memorial
service on November 14.
She is survived by three daughters, Ethel
(Mrs. Graham Kerr) of Seaforth; Margaret
(Mrs. Lorne Brown) of Clinton and Kay
(Mrs. Donald RomboughI ofGananoque.
Mrs. Ross is predeceased by one sister,
Elizabeth Graham and eight brothers,
Dorie, .Jack, Tom, Victor, Harold, Arthur,
Orville and James.
The funeral service was held at the
Beattie Funeral Home in Clinton on
November 15. Rev. David Woodall of the
Ontario Street United Church officiated.
Interment at the Maitland Bank Cemetery
in Seaforth.

William Caldwell
William C. Caldwell, a long time Clinton
standardbred horseman, died at Clinton
Public Hospital on November 14 at the age
of 75.
Mr. Caldwell, born in West Wawanosh
Township on June 16, 1910, was known for
his love of horses and was actively involved
in the Horsemen's Association. He wasthe
son of the late George Caldwell and the late
Rebecca Smith. He married Alma Nivins on
March 20, 1935 in London.
He farmed near Dungannon for a number
of years before moving to Clinton to pursue
carpentry. He was also a member of the
Ontario Street United Church in Clinton.
Hartley -Whitlock •
Christine Hartley and• Timothy Whitlock
were married on October 19 in Wesley -Willis
United Church, Clinton. Rev. James Bechtel
officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Hal Hartley of Clinton and the
groom •is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cy
Whitlock of Kitchener. Tuve Finlay was
matron of honor and the junior bridesmaid
was the bride's cousin, Alison,. Reed. The
bestman was Harvey Kadillq. Guests were
ushered by Barry Dawson and John Finlay.
After a reception at The White Carnation in
Holmesville, the newlyweds spent a mini-
honeymt.,oil at the Benmiller Inn. During the
Christmas holidays the couple will honey-
moon on the island of St. Lucia. The couple
now reside on Albert Street in Woodstock.
Fisher—Willis
Sandra Bernice Fisher, daughter of Bee
nard and Bernice Fisher, of RR2 Clinton and
Ronald Robert Willis, son of Dan and
Doreen Willis, of RR4 Goderich were mar-
ried Oct. 5, 1985 at Benmiller United Church
with Rev. John D.W. Wood officiating. Maid
of honor was Darlene Fisher, of Ottawa and
bridesmaids were Joyce Dow, of RR2 Staffa
and Connie Willis, of Goderich. Groomsman
was Dan Willis, of RR4 Goderich and ushers
were John Willis, of New Brunswick and Ed
Fisher, of RR2 Clinton. The reception was
held at Saltford Valley Hall. After a wedding
trip to Niagara Falls, the couple will reside

Beer -Thompson
David Beer of Clinton and Cheryl Thompson
of hayfield were married in Holmesville
United Church on November 16 by Rev.
Bechtel. The groom is the son of Henry and
Marlene Beer of 89 William St. Clinton and
the bride is the daughter of Betty and Frank
Thompson of RR2 Bayfield. The matron of
honor was Gail Clark of Bayfield and the
bridesmaids were Nancy Thompson, also of
Bayfield, and Christine Stangen of Kit-
chener. Mike Stangen, of Kitchener, was the
best man. Dennis Thompson and Dan Clark,
both of Bayfield, were ushers. Following the
wedding, a reception was held at the Ben-
niiller Inn. The couple now reside at 376 On-

Guetter-vanderHeyden
Chris Guetter and Sue vanderHeyden were
married at the Brantford Christian Reform-
ed Church on September 21 by Rev. Homer
Samplonius and Rev. Gilbert Kidd. The
bride is the daughter of Helen Lyons and the
late Lyle Richardson of Brantford. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Guet-
ter of Clinton. The bride's attendants were
Nancy Donker, Irene Brooks and Carolyn
Gutter, daughters of the groom. Selena
Doilker, granddaughter of the groom, was
the flowergirl. The groom's attendants were
John Guetter and George Guetter, sons of
the groom, and Keith vanderHeyden, son of
the bride. Matthew Brooks, grandson of the
groom, was the ringbearer. Ushers were
Nick Donker and Gerry Thompson. The
bride's son, Arnie vanderHeyden, escorted
the bride into the church. Following a
honeymoon in Barbados, the couple is
residing at RR4 Clinton.

He is survived by his wife along with
children Doris (Mrs. Robert Pudden) of
Ottawa; Lorene Love of Goderich; Lynne
(Mrs. Lyle Adams) of Lucan; Ken Caldwell
of St. Thomas and by 10 grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren. He is also
survived by sisters, Pearl Caldwell;
Blanche (Mrs. Nelson Culbert) and Myrtle
(Mrs. John Spivak), all of Dungannon.
Mr. Caldwell is predeceased by one sister
Agnes Caldwell and two brothers, George
and Ben Caldwell.
The funeral service was held at the
Beattie Funeral Home m Clinton on
November 16. Officiating was Rev. David
Woodall of the Ontario Street United

Flowerbearers were Wayne Pickard,
Brian Pickard, Harold Culbert and Rick
Nivins. Pallbearers were Frank
MacDonald, Dennis Jewitt, Charles
Brandon, Lorne Dale, George Errington and
Frank Dam.
Interment at the Dungannon Cemetery.
JEAN (HULLER) COOK
Jean F. Cook of Goderich died at Alexan-
dra Marine and General Hospital on Friday,
Nov. 15, 1985 in her 70th year.
She was a member of North Street United
Church and the Goderich Women's In-
stitute.
Born in Clinton on May 8, 1915, she was a
daughter of the late John Huller and the
former Myrtle Laois.
She is survived by her husband, Jack W.
Cook, a daughter, Shirley and'her husband,
Richard of London, a son, Raymond and his
wife, Peggy of Goderich, and two grand-
children, Jason and Julie Cook.
She is also survived by two sisters, Doris,
Mrs. William Batkin of RR 3, Clinton and
Edna, Mrs. Alvin Cox of Clinton.
She was predeceased by a sister,
Kathleen, Mrs. Dres Beck.
The funeral service was held at the Mc-
Callum Funeral Home in Goderich on Mon-
day, Nov. 18, conducted by Rev. Robert O.
Ball of North Street United Church.
Flowerbearers were Brian Cox, Gary
Beck, Bill Clifford and Harry Arthur.
Pallbearers were Frank Thompson,
Charles Durst, Ron McDonald, John
Schaefer, Bill Schaefer and John Stringer.
Burial followed in Colborne Cemetery.
Donations to the Alzheimers Society
would be appreciated as expressions of sym-
pathy.
Ruby IJniac
Ruby Verna Uniac of RR2 Bayfield died in
Clinton Public Hospital on November 16 at
age 56;
She was born in Mitchell on August 22,

1929. She was the daughter of the late John
Kreis and Elfrieda Fischer of Stratford. She
married Gerald J. Uniac on October 3, 1953
at St. Michael's Cathedral in Toronto.
Mrs. Uniac is survived by son Jay and his
wife Beth -Ann of London, Gary and his wife
Lorena of Sarnia and by her father-in-law
Thomas Michael Uniac of Mitchell. She is
also survived by three sisters and one
brother, Mrs. Edwin (Marion) Turford of
Stratford, Mrs. Douglas (Dorothy) Allan of
Sarnia, Mrs. Sidney (Shirley) Creek of
Stratford and Earl Kreis of Brampton.
She is predeceased by her father John
Kreis and by one brother.
A private funeral service was held at the
Ball and Falconer Chapel on November 18.
Readings of the Lord's Prayer were given
by Earl Kreis, followed by the 23rd Psalm
by Joseph Uniac. The service concluded
with the singing of the hymn Rock of Ages.
Cremation followed at Woodland
Crematorium in London.
Mabel Hopson
Mabel Hopson, well known as the Silver
Cross Mother who laid the wreaths at the
Remembrance Day services at Bayfield and
Clinton cenotaphs for many years, died in
Gatineau, Quebec on November 41l. She was
''87.
Born in Blairton on August 12, 1898, she
was the daughter of the late Curtis Johnson
and the late. Susan McQuaig. She married
the late George Hopson on August 24, 1914.
After their marriage, they moved to the
United States until 1933 when they moved to
the Bayfield area. Upon the death of her
husband in 1964, Mrs. Hopson moved to
Clinton where she resided until 1976. She
then moved to Vancouver for- six months
before she moved to Pte. Gatineau, Quebec
where she lived for three more years prior
to her moving to the Notre Dame Nursing
Home in December 1980. She lived there
until the time she died.
She was also a past member of the Ladies'
Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion
Clinton Branch No. 140.
Mrs. Hopson is survived by sons Arthur of
Callander and Oliver of RR3 Seeleys Bay.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and
11 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by one son Robert, six
sisters and five brothers.
The funeral service was held at the Ball
and Falconer Chapel on November 13. Rev.
Paul Murray of St. Andrews United Church
in Bayfield officiated.
Flowerbearers were Brian and Kendall
Hopson. Pallbearers were William
McllwaiP, Bev McClinchey, Pat Graham,
Charles Scotchmer, Wayne Hopson . and
David Hopson. Interment at Bayfield
Cemetery.
