Looking through the eyes of a deer
Dear Editor:
Everything is dark right now. The light
starts to creep through the leafless branches
- it's time to go out into a corn field and have
breakfast.
Buck (my mate) and myself are having
our usually good feeding when suddenly we
hear human voices. The sound of man, our
greatest fear. We high tail it into the cover
of the forest.
We're curious to see what they're shouting
about. We see about six or seven men dress-
)/ ed in funny orange color outfits coming
towards us. Are they after us? Yes of' course
they are.
We run frantically through the coven of
low bush and shrubs in the, forest. They still
shout. It's scaring us. We are almost out of
the bush.
Buck and I must run across a road to the,
cover of a larger forest. Buck, starts off with
myself close behind. We get to the road.
I stop at the edge of the 'forest, three or
four men in. that orange color are there
again. We're surrounded. Buck doesn't stop
though, he's frantic. Onto the road he goes,
hoping to reach safety. But it's not tube.
I hear a loud noise. I've heard it before,
but in the distance. •
Buck's legs go out ,from under him. He

struggles to get back up. Another blast and
he goes back down. This time he doesn't get
back up.
The four men 'run towards him. Time for
me to escape. Across the road I go and I
make it. Under cover now I stop to take one
last look. Another six men come out of the
bush and they stand around my Buck.

against one defenseless deer.
Sure, we ate some of the farmer's corn,
and some of our friends get in the way of
cars at night, but "I ask you",is it fair what
these mighty so-called hunters have done?
Let's try - a one 'on one. That'll be fair.
After all we are supposed to be such a
beautiful creature. Not dead we're not.
I walk softly in to the forest to safety, well
at least I hope so!

brought to you by the
remarkable heat pump
If you're looking for a more efficient heating system that also gives
you central air conditioning, look at the remarkable heat pump.
The heat pump provides warm, even heat in winter, and with a
flip of a switch, cools and dehumidifies your home in summer.
You can select a model that can be added on to your existing
furnace, or replace your old heating system with an all -electric
heat pump.
A heat pump in your home could save you up to one third of what
you're now paying to heat with an oil or gas-fired system.
Remember, a heat pump gives you year-round comfort and
maximum energy efficiency.
It's worth a call.
