Renewed interest
There's something about playoffs that
gets sports fans and non -sports fans alike,
hyped -up. This year's American League
playoffs in baseball caused more
excitement than they have in a long time
and the World Series is providing some good
entertainment.
Although the Toronto Blue Jays didn't win
the American League pennant, they proved
they could play with the best of them,
outplaying most of them.
They renewed interest in those who had
lost their love for baseball. At the same time
they made new baseball fans.
It would have been nice to have the Blue
Jays in the World Series, ( maybe Bobby Cox
wouldn't have quit, but the Kansas City
Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals are
evenly matched.
After watching their first two games, I'm
not sure how's going to win. I'm picking the
Cardinals simply because they beat my
favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cardinals are the favorites because
they have speed. Willy McGee and Ozzie
Smith could leave any of the Royals' players
in the dust and distract any pitcher.
From thQ stands
And in a game where it's hard to get on
base, smart base running could make the
difference between winning the World
Series and losing it.
However, the Royals shouldn't be under
estimated. Irl- game two, they proved they
could play good ball, but unfortunately for
them, couldn't manage to hang on in the
ninth inning.
Regardless of who wins the World Series,
it should be an interesting contest. Maybe
one of the best in years.
Support the Mustangs
This year the Clinton Mustang Junior D
team is made up of many hometown
players. Organizers hoped that this would
