Thanksgiving
at Hullett
LONDESBORO - The primary grade
children at Hullett Central School were
involved in Thanksgiving activities last
week.
The Grade 1 students held their
Thanksgiving dinner. on Friday. In the week
leading up to the dinner, there was a lot of
preparation, including a shopping trip to get
the necessary items. On the Wednesday
before the dinner, pumpkin pies were made.
On Thursday, the class peeled the potatoes
and carrots and, on Friday, they enjoyed
their great feast in the gym.
The Grade 2 class completed
Thanksgiving unit last week which
concluded with the making of Thanksgiving
turkeys with colored feathers.
The Grades class made apple turnovers
on Friday for Thanksgiving.
Senior Soccer Tournament
On October 8, the senior boys' and girls'
soccer teams travelled to Brucefield for the
soccer tournament. Both teams played five
games. The girls' team came back with four
wins and one tie giving them the
• championship. The boys' started off well,
winning their first two games while losing
the next three,
Hat, Tie and Shade Day
On Friday, the students council held a
Hat, Tie and Shade Day which included a
competition among the classes. The Grade 6
class • won and everybody could here the
screams of delight all around the school.
Classy Cooks
hold meeting
The fourth meeting of the Classy Cooks 4-
H Club was held at the, home of Eunice
Emke, on October 9. The leaders explained
the differences between butter and egg -
foam cakes. While one group prepared the
pumpkin cake for the next meeting, the
other group did an experiment with egg
whites.
The members discussed the bake sale to
be held November 7, ,at the Blyth Hall at 8•
p.m., following the Women's Institute
meeting. Parents are invited to come to this
meeting and bake sale. The members
sampled the Strawberry Chiffon Pie before
closing the meeting.

CLINTON - A single car collision on
Highway 4 south of Clinton resulted in $800
damage on October 9, according to the
Goderich detach hent of the OPP.
The vehicle driven by John Sheperd, 31, of
Blyth was travelling southbound on
Highway 4 when the car entered the ditch.
One passenger, Diane McDonald received
minor injuries while a second passenger
was uninjured.
Frazer Abbott
Frazer Abbott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell
Abbott of Holmesville, graduated from
Huron Central Secondary School with his
Grade 12 diploma.

WALTQN - The first I./CW unit of Duff's
United Moatiet en October 9,
Scripture lesson was read by Melva
Fraser. Viola Kirkby read an article on
Time of Harvest. Keeping with the theme of
Thanksgiving) Margery Huether read
several poems.
Annie Reid made a presentation on the
Native People of Canada from the study
book. Several questions were asked on what
people think of when the Indian name is
mentioned, attitudes toward the Indians and
what personal contacts have members had
with Indian people.
Viola Kirkby President chaired the
business portion. Audrey Hackwell read
minutes and Doreen Hackwell gave
treasurer's report, Plans were made for a
shower and tickets were given out for Fowl
Supper of November 6.
Invitations were read from St. James
School to their fall bazaar on November 30
and to Burn's UCW Bazaar October 23 at the
Londesboro Hall.
Names on nominating committee are
Marie Coutts, Maxine Marks, Marie
McGavin and Dorothy McNichol.
Attend Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Mitchell and
Kathleen Cuthill and Clara Dale attended
the 40th wedding anniversary on Saturday
evening of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Storey, of
Woodstock. It was held in the Beachville
Legion.

Helen Craig were presented with corsages.
The program consisted of a duet by Shan-
non Craig and Sharon Godkin, assisted by
Marion Godkin at the piano. Annie Reid,
presented an amusing reading followed by a
piano solo by Sherri Hoegy. Marie McGavin
led in a sing song. Mildred Traviss and
Phyllis Mitchell entertained with several
musical numbers. Marilyn McDonald gave
a reading.
Carol Shortreed read the address, gifts
were carried in by former school chums of
Sherrill, who had returned for the occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Craig held a social
evening on Saturday evening in the Walton
Hall to honour their daughter, Sherrill and
husband, Robert Christian on their recent
marriage. A large crowd of neighbors,
relatives and friends attended.
Monthly draw
At a recent meeting of the Walton Area
Sports Club, they held their monthly draw,
Winners were: $100 - Julie Holmes, Clinton;
$25, Betty Maedel, Monkton.
Thanksgiving Sunday
John Huether and Neil Mitchell greeted
worshippers on Thanksgiving Sunday at
Duff's Milia Qhureh. Organist was ¥anon
Godkiu. Ushers were jack McEw'.

Thanksgiving service was organized by
Bonnie Lamble who gave as her sermon,
"Thanksliving". Sheriil Christian and
Graeme Craig sang a solo during the ser-
vice,
People
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Machan and familyi of
Sarnia, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Nelson Reid.
Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Roily Achilles were Karen Atcheson
and Danny Achilles. of Stratford. Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Sills and family of Seaforth spent
Thanksgiving Monday at the same home.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Machan of Toronto,
spent the Thanksgiving weekend with his
mother, Viola. Kirkby who returned home
with them Monday to spend a few days.
Guest speaker
. Harry Franken was the guest speaker at
the last meeting of the Hallrice 4-H Dairy
Club. Mr. Franken demonstrated calf hair
clipping and hoof trimming. Koos and Tony
Verberg hosted the meeting.
A members' vote of thanks was given out
to leaders Jim Hallahan and Fred Muir, and
their wives, for their guidance and support
throughout the year.
Thanks also goes out to the special guests
