In •1974 she ' joined with

.retail store in.London, known
as The Weavery and after

a joined forces, with Jan
Van Fleet. They became
Canada's only importers of
Manos hand -spun wool from
Uruguay, to supplement the
overwhelming demand for
the Willow Bend Marbled
yarn.

When foreign exchange
rates and delivery difficulties
made the venture
economically difficult, Bar-
bara turned to increasing pro-
duction of her own marbled
yarn and it is that product
which also attracts customers -

are evident, but customers.

between her feeding chores,
mowing hay or fall plowing,
will find a knowledgeable ex-
pert on both sheep and wool.
Most of her knowledge has
been gained the hard way.
- Setbacks.along the way have
included the death of her hus-
band due to a heart attack in
1970, the loss of several of her
valued sheep through attacks

tours brought on by
associated demands with the
other facets of her business.
The patoral setting at
Willow Bend prompts the
same cooperation from
customers who don't mind
waiting the few minutes it
takes Barbara to get the
manure Off her shoes or the
smell of newborn lambs off
her hands before she dons
another hat from the rack
that isweighted down by the
variety which she wears in
her busy schedule.
