girls, Annette Lucan placed first with a
jump of 1.35 m:; Julie •Carrter was second
with a jump of 1:33 m. and Rutb Anne White
placed third with a kitty of 1.30 m, In the
boys high jump, Devon Colquhoun was first
with a jump of 1.60m., Michael Corrie was
second at 1.55 m. and Jason Cox placed third
with a jump of 1.53 m.,
In the girls long jump, Dolly Rockey
placed first with a jump of 4.10 m., Heather
Brownridge was second with a jump' of 3.91
m. and Annette Lucas was third with the®
jump of 3.90 m. In' the boys event, Devon
Colquhoun placed first with a jump of 4.94
m., Colin Thomas was second at 4.90 m. and
Paul Hoggart was third at 4.60 m,
In the girls shot put, Alarm Colquhoun
placed first with. a throw of 8.26 m., Lori
Leibold was second at 8.19 m. and Chanda
Chilton was third with a throw, of 8.05 m. In
the boys event, Tom Campbell was first with
a throw of 14. 76m., Derek Jefferson was
second with a throw of 12.93 m. and Devon
Colquhoun was third with a throw of 12.6 m.
In the track events, Carla Otterbein
placed first in the girls 100 m. race with a
time of 14.2 sec., Laurie Kerr was second
with a time of 14.3 m. and Shelley Bonte
C;elok was third with a time of 14.4 sec. In
the boys event, Rob McCool placed first with
a time of 12.6 sec., Chris Overholt was
second with a time of 12.9 sec. and Dwayne
Hutchings was third with a time of 13.0 sec.
In the 800 m. race, Heather Brownridge
placed first with a time of 2:57.3 sec., Lori
Liebold was second with a time of 3:04.7 sec,
and Jacque Lobb was third with a time of
3:04.9 sec. in , the boys event, Dwayne
Hutchings placed first with a time of 2:39.1
sec., Dean Martin was second with a time of
2:40.8 sec. and Derek Jefferson was third
with a time of 2:41 sec. •
The organizers, Mr. Ludwig, and 'Mr.
Allen, appreciated the students who assisted MI
in making the event run smoothly as well as
teachers Mr. G. Smith, Mr. Ziebarth and
Mr. Clynick for their help.

Education today was the main topic of
discussion at the September Meeting of the
Huron Women Teachers' Association
(HWTA), held in Holmesville.
Guest speaker for the evening was
Eleanor Stewart of the ,Public Relation Ser-
vices, Federated Women Teachers'
Association of Ontario in Toronto.
She spoke about the increasing complex- •
ities of educating youth and cited examples
showing the growth of violence, the. number
of children with problems and the litigious
nature of society today.

The meeting focussed on issues such as
Excellence in Education, this year's theme,
and Bill 30, regarding joint funding of
separate schools.
•In attendance were HWTA executive
members, convenors and key teachers who
represent each of the public elementary
schools in Huron County.
They addressed a variety of concerns in-
cluding .finance, sponsorship of courses, up-
coming 'conferences and the donation of a
freezer to Survival Through Friendship
House in Goderich.
