By Mildred Lawlory M. and Mrs. Reg Schultz of RR 3 Blyth eelelu aced thew 518th Anniversary at Auburn Community Hall Saturday Sept. 28. Reg is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schultz of Colborne Township. Irene is the former Irene Leatherland of East Wawanosh Township. The couple were mar- ried Sept. 28, 1935 at Blyth United Church Manse by Pastor Mills. Her sister Annie Vincent was her maid of honor. The couple have two sons Donald and Clif- ford, and all live on the family farm RR 3 Blyth. After receiving guests a concert of local talent was enjoyed. Clifford Coultes was M.C. and violin selections were played by the Harris sisters and the welcome song by the McDonell sisters. A group consisting of Lloyd Walden, Arnold Cook, Jim McCall, Harvey McDowell sang with Phyllis Boak as pianist. Dance numbers were done by Shannon and Laura Hallahan and Heidi Scrimgeour. Aubrey Toll sang two numbers accompanied by Marjorie McDougall. The community sing song was led by Lloyd Walden. Karen Burgisma sang two numbers accompanying herself on guitar. Dave Onn, Janet Harris, Peter and Mark McDowell dressed in costume did a comical number. Laura Mae Chamney sang a solo accompanied by Marjorie McDougall. Phyllis Mitchell played two numbers on violin accompanied by Phyllis Boak at piano. Garth Walden and John McDowell did two humorous numbers. Clifford Coultes recited two numbers, Arnold Cook and Lloyd Walden had comical duet and dressed as a bride and groom and Doug Smith expressed words of congratulations to Reg and Irene. Guests were from the West, Holland, Guelph, Point Edward, Hamilton, Goderich, Wyoming, Toronto and surrounding areas. Local News Marilyn Archambault was married to Earl Johnston Saturday, Oct. '5 at Londesboro United Church. Friends of Christinei Shuttleworth gathered at the home of Mrs. Greg Park for a baby shower held for Christine last week. Visitors with MrJ and Mrs. Don Haines were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Haines of Winnipeg. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley McNall,of Welland, Mrs. James Latimer of Calgary, Alberta, Mr. and Mrs. Fordyce Clark of Goderich and Mrs. Lawrence Nesbitt of. Port Perry visited with Laura Phillips and Ellen Johnston. Mrs. Tom Haggitt, Mrs. Robert Peck, Lillian Leatherland and Marjorie McDougall enjoyed a color trip to Kingston and Gananoque and boat cruise of the Thousand Islands on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Robinson moved last week to their new home on John Street in Auburn. Harvest Thanksgiving Seri'ice will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church on Sunday Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m. Picture days at Hullett LONDESBORO - On September 26 at Hallett Central School the Kindergarten class and Grade 3 class had their pictures taken. On September 27 all the other grades had their's taken. School Trips Both the Kindergarten classes went to the Apple Orchard near Brussels on October 4. They went to find out more about apples and how apples are produced on the trees. In The Grade 2 Classroom: The Gingerbread Man has challenged the Grade 2 class to find him. But when they get there he, is gone. He is very generous and leaves each one of them a treat. Every day this happens and it is taking them all over the school. When they have found their treat they go back and indicate on their map where they went. Hotdogs: For two weeks now the Student's Council has been having hotdogs and chocolate milk available for Lunch, So far they have made great success in selling them. Blyth Block Parents meet On October 22, Block Parents are having an information" night at the Public School. It is to be considered "Family Night." Everyone is invited to attend. ' There will be a short film for the children describing what'it means. A clown will also be present acting out various things pertain- ing to it to keep their interest. The film will be followed by a question period with an of- ficer from the Ontario Provincial Police. The Block Parents signs are being distributed now and a brief explanation will be given. Club makes cornish astries HOLMESVILLE - The Flour Girls met at Bev Van Ninhuys for their second and -third meetings. During t e second meeting, the girls were introduced to a new member, Connie Clark. Later they baked cornish pasties, banana cream pie and chicken corn pie. After the baking was done, the meeting was opened with the pledge and roll call. The members discussed pies and had a quiz on pies: The meeting was closed with the motto and' a taste test of the pies.
