She visited with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Racine of Chesterville. There they attended the wedding of her nephew, Robert Racine to. Thelma Renis, in Kingston. She also visited with her sister, Dr. and Mrs. Wilma Meldrum in Ottawa. Mr.. and Mrs. Charlie East and family visited with her parents, Stewart and Mildred Ament, to celebrate Shirley's birth- day last week. In return, Shirley had them back to their house for Stewart's birthday this week. Gary Manning spent a few days at the home of his parents, Bill and Thelma Mann- ing. Quote of the week: Death and taxes may always be with us, but death doesn't get any worse. • A correction for last week's Lion's Club news- The Ladies' Night is to be held Oc- tober 10, NOT October 17 as indicated last week. Lost Heir will be commencing October 16 at the Memorial Hall at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The Ladies' Auxiliary attended a bowling tournament in Goderich on Saturday. There were two teams consisting of: Janice Henry, Lillian Riehl, Brenda Finlayson, Verna Hesslewood, Isabele-McClure and Iz- zy Germane, for. the first team, and Bernice Pierce, Betty Lair, Kathy Bromley, Ruby Patterson, Sheron Stadlemann and Elia Gwyn, making up the second team. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon with a chicken -buffet supper served afterwards. sliTil down for Christmas The Blyth 3 -C's weight club is looking for more members for their club to keep it go- ing. The upcoming banquets were discussed. Ruth Dougherty won the mystery prize. Students learn fire safety October 9 was proclaimed Fire Safety Day and the school prepared for it last Fri- day. A planned fire drill was held and everyone participated accordingly. Afterwards, a discussion was held as to what had been done, and what had been omitted. One thing that was pointed out, was that no one check- ed the washrooms to ensure that they were empty. On Wednesday, another drill was held for evacuation purposes, only this one was held' on an unexpected note. Many families are planning to participate, in the drill that is to be held in their homes at 6 p.m. Make plans on how to evacuate your house, the safest and quickest way, and then do it accordingly.
