This meeting will be a Ladies' Night with Giselle Ireland as the guest speaker. The last meeting of the Blyth Lions Cltib was held September 26, at the Biyth Memorial Hall. Twenty Lions and one guest were served a roast beef supper by the Catholic Women's League. Lion President, Gerald Kerr announced plans for the Canine" Vision Canada Walk-a- Dog-a-Thon, which •will be held in Goderich on Sunday, ()Aber 6. This is to raise money for the new ild Dog School located in Oakville. The Blyth and Londesboro Lions paid for the transportation to and from this sum- mer's swimming lessons in Vanastra. The Blyth Lions will be holding their an- nual Christmas Dances. on Saturday, Hecember 14 and Saturday, December 21, at the Blyth and District Community Centre. Anyone wanting more information should contact Lion Murray Musty. Girlslearn pastry skills The first meeting of the Blyth 11, Rolling Pins 4-H Clubiwas held at the horne of Karen Stewart. Members appointed Angela Cot- ton president, Diane Hallahan secretary and Debbie Machan press reporter. This year they also have Rose Ann. Machan as an assistant leader. Rose Ann showed members how to make the Basic Tea Biscuits. At the second meeting she showed members how to make pastry as well as apple and blueberry fill- ing. On the third meeting, members made Coconut Banana Cream Pie and Cornish Pastries. After each meeting, the baked goods were sampled by the members and leaders. Classy Cooks meet The second meeting of the 4-H Club, the Blyth I Classy Cooks, was held at Eunice Emke's, on September 25, with six members present. Guest Minister at United Church Evelena Webster and Laverne Clark greeted the congregation for the Sunday Service at the Blyth United Church. Ushers were Bruce and Sharon Bromley, Murray and Barb Musty. Call to Worship by Gayle and Elaine Poore was made. The guest minister was Rev. Bob Roberts of Nile. Explorer leaders are: Mary Lou Stewart, Betty Nethery and Sharon Stadlemann. More HELP is needed for other vacancies. The congregation is asked to help with donations of canned goods, boxed goods, paper products etc. for the Survival Through Friendship House in Goderich. Receptables for these will be in the Church Narthex. The mernbers of the church have been busy leveling the top soil and planting new grass around the. church. Church gets a new look . Renovations at The "Church of God" On SatL rday, people from The Church of God congregations in London, Welland, Kit chener, Toronto, Grand Bend and Blyth all participated in both interior. and exterior renovations to the church. Everyone sup- plied their own equipment and they picnick- ed outside on the lawn for their breaks. After the church being "inactive" over the summer months, the support , thus evidenced by the other churches on Satur- day, was a great encouragement to the Blyth Congregation. Services are to be held at 3 p.m. Sundays; with speakers coming from Kitchener and Owen Sound. Monday Night Euchre . There were eight tables at the euchre par-' ty Monday night and it was proven just how much one's luck can change from one week to the next. High lady was Margaret Brooks; from Goderich andhigh man was John Hesslewood, who won the low -man prize last week! Low lady went to RenaWatt, who had been lady's high last, week! Maybe the season plays a big part 'in this—being Autumn, it's all in the way the cards FALL! Men's low was Joe Holmes, with Ted Fothergill Winning the men's most lone hands. The ladies' most lone hands was won by Marg. Nesbitt. Special prize was won by Florence Roultzon. Cards will be played again next Monday. night in the Memorial Hall at 8 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Eleanor Babcock, of Clinton, was one of many assisting with the renovations to The Church of God in Blyth on September 28. Congregations of The Church of God from Toronto, Welland, Kitchener and London were on hand to help. Serving communion were Edith Wey, Margaret Craig, Roy Williamson, Graeme Craig, Ken McDonald, Emerson Mitchell and Bruce Clark. ' Baptized were twins Patrisha May and Robbie Stan, children of Stan and Donna McClure and Joshua Brett, son of Hugh and Susan Nichol. On Wednesday, October 2 the Walton UCW executive will hoid its meeting at 1:30 p.m. The Women's Institute will .. hold 'a noon luncheon. Congratulations to Lawrie's fastball team By Kathy Bromley -Congratulations. to the LAWRIE'S MEN'S FASTBALL TEAM, who were the runners- up in the Clinton league standings this sum- mer. The team consisted of: Brian Bromley, coach; Bev Bromley, assistant coach; Bruce Bromley, Brad •Bromley, Barry Bromley, Steve Bromley, Steve Cook,. Dana Bean, Jim Johnstone, Don Allen and Randy Bowyer. Each man received a trophy at their ban- quet held Friday night in the Clinton Legion. Brad Bomley, Bev Bromley and Dana Bean each received a plaque for being in the top 10, for their batting averages for the season. Brian Bromley and Bev Bromley each received a plaque for being in .the top five, for batting averages for the playoffs. Dana Bean was chosen to receive the most - valuable player award for Lawrie's. All-in- all, Lawrie's had a good year, winning the "B" championships twice and being the runners-up in tournaments held throughout the summer. ' • Now that baseball season is over, don't forget that.
