Gallery launches fall season
LONDON - The London Regional Art
Gallery launched it's fall season with one of
the most exciting exhibitions of the year,
"The Language of Paradise". This exhibi-
tion is a visual expression of Mennonite folk
art, consisting of some 450 items, the ma-
jority of which have been selected from
households from the Waterloo region by
Guest Curator Nancy -Lou Patterson.
Viewers are sure.to be fascinated by the col-
lection of quilts, textiles, paintings, fraktur,
furniture and objects in clay, metal and
wood. Demonstrations of many of these
traditional crafts will be on view the day of
the opening, Associated with the exhibition
is the work by two young professional artists
from " the Mennonite Community; Susan
Shantz and David Hunsberger.
Perhaps the most unusual feature of the
exhibition will be the creation of a "four-
square garden" in the Centre Gallery. The
"four-square garden" played a significant
role in the Mennonite woman's daily life and
most characteristic of the Mennonite farm-
scape.
The exhibition runs until October 23.
