Huron -Bruce Conservative NIP Murray Cardiff presented a cheque for $7,722 to president, Orval McPhee and secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Tom Haggitt. The money will be us- ed for repairs to the hall, stage and for the purchase of Furniture and supplies for arts and crafts. The Auburn Silver Tops group was formed in 1979. (photo by Dave Sykes) Locals attend 5Othanniversary By Dora Shobbrook LONDESBORO - Welcoming the congregatibn at the Londesboro United Church on Sunday morning were Ken Hulley while the ushers for the service were Allan Bossman, Bill Bromley, Don McGregor and Neil Salverda. The organist was Marsha Szosz.' Rev. Snihur was in charge .of the anniversary services at Varna United Church and members of the worship and music committee led the Londesboro service. The'call to worship was opened by Laura Scott who welcomed all and gave the announcements. The Bible Study for both groups will be held on September 19 at 10 a.rn. at the home of Margaret Whyte, Flowers on the mernorium stand were placed in, memory of Bill Storey by his family. Children's time consisted of a story by Connie Hoggart and a prayer by John Lawson. The choir was directed by Marsha Szosz. A duet was sung by Lori Bromley and and Lisa Bosman accompanied by Barbara Bosman. People report Frank and Emma Schneder (nee Jamieson) of Dorset in the Muskoka's celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 7 at the Erin Legion Hall. By Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse Belgrave - A'large crowd gathered in Belgrave on September 11 for' the' 65th Annual Belgrave, Blyth and Brussels School Fair. Decorated bicycle's were judged at 12:30 p.m. and at 1:00 p.m. sharp the parade started from the W.,J. Hall. It was led by Don Pullen, William Elston, Neil Vincent and Murray Vincent, several members of the ,Brussels Pipe Band and school teachers. School children and children on decorated bicycles headed to the fair grounds at the Community Centre where. the afternoon activities were held. Messages were given by, 1)on .Pullen, Agricultural Representative from Clinton, William Elston, Reeve of Morris Township, Neil Vincent, Reeve of East Wawanosh Township and Murray Vincent, President of the 1985 School Fair. Karen Montgomery officially opened the Fa ir. Karen obtained • the highest number of points for girls at last year's Fair and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Glen Montgomery of Belgrave. There are two editors - Lana Lawrence and Shane Taylor: three reporters - Shannon Duizer, Paul Jewitt and Annette Lockhart. Again like other years the newspaper team is from Grade 7. New Student At Hullett The year 1985-1986 is a busy year for new students. In Mrs. Hoernig's Grade 2 class there is Karla Stacey and Eric McDougall. In Miss I,ally's Grade 3 there is Eva McDougall. In Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Bosman's Grade class they have three new students, Brian Werkema, Jackie Lee and Brent Thomas. Grade 6, which is Mr. Riley's class, there is a bundle of new people. Judy Elliot, Kim Lee, Stanely McDougall, and Lori Werkema. Mr. Talbot's Grade 7 class has onv one new student - David Werkerna. Mr. Millson was sick the first week of school. He has recouperated and was back to school on September 9., Mr, Talbot has started Cross Country this year again and lots of boys and girls have been out running. We had a big race on September 13 and we will continue .having races once every week in preparation for the Cross Country meet 'in October. New principal . There is a new principal at Hullett Central. His name is Ron Jewitt. Mr. Jewitt's wife's name is Jean, and he has two children, Jeff and Brad. He owns a farm with his .brother, Gary, pricipai(of Seaforth. He was principal at Colborne for six years.
