CLINTON - Six young adultswill be em-
barking on a trip of a lifetime in March 1986,
if the community comes to their support
Margie Wise, Shaun Semple, Dave Mof-
fatt, Vicki Cantelon, Brian Phillips and
Greg Carter will be taking part in a
Worldwide Rovers Moot in New Zealand if
they can corn up with the financial backing
needed to make the trip.
It will cost $2,000 to send each participant
and leader Rev. Jim Bechtel on the once -in -
a lifetime journey. Members of the Rovers
Club. are appealing• to local service clubs
and are organizing a number of special fund
raising projects to help lower the costs.
They aim to reduce the costs to $200 each.
The six young people are members of the
Rovers Club, the senior division level. of
pouting. Founded by Lord Baden Powell a
year after Boy Scouts was established,
Rovers have only gained popularity in Clin-
ton in recent years. Clinton has the only
Rovers group in HuronCounty.
Rovers is a co-ed program for 1.8 to 23 year
olds. The group is service and community
oriented and aims to utilize theleadership
skills that members learned in Scouting and
Guiding.
The New Zeae.a,d journey invites Rovers
from around the`world`to celebrate 50 years
of Hovering in New Zealand. Five hundred
Rovers from around the globe will join with
500 New Zealand Rovers at the March 1986
celebration.
The three week journey will involve a 10 -
day assembly, along with" tours .of New
Zealand's north 'and south islands, a visit to
Clinton, New Zealand. stopovers in
Australia and a visit to the Great Barrier
Reef.
The Clinton Rovers will be accompanied
on their. trip by leader Mr. Bechtel and his
wife Elaine.
Local service clubs are being asked to
support the trip and in return members of
the Rovers Club are willing to appear as
guest speakers with presentations of their
trip. '
The Tuckersmith Day Nursery will no longer have the guiding hand of Karen McEwing-
McConnell. She has been the director since the nursery's, opening 10.years ago. Ms.
McEwing-McConnell has taken a position with the Durham Board of Education, com-
pleting her last day in Tuckersmith on August 22. The nursery has not yet found a

Karen Elizabeth Cudmore
Mr. and Mrs. William Cudmore announce
the graduation of their daughter, Karen
Elizabeth Cudmore, from a one year post-
graduate course in Recreation for Special
Populations, at Georgian College, Orillia on
August 24. This followed the two year course
as Developmental Service Worker. She , is
also a graduate of Central Huron Secondary
School, Clinton. She is employed in
Gravenhurst at the Government Muskoka
Centre and is a member of the Orillia
Recreation Committee of the Association
for the Mentally Handicapped.
