Whatever helps the farmer helps the, community. We therefore have pleasure in announcing that the On- tario - Exalt Growers' Association, through the, Secretary, Mr. C. C. Creelman, has made arrangements to hold a series of Fruit Institute meet- ings in this district. An orchard has been selected, and here a practical demonstration in pruning will be. given, and discussion will he conduct- ed in reference to matters pertaining to orchard management. Two prominent fruit growers have been engaged by the Ontario Depart- went of Agriculture to assist in the work, and it is expected that these meetings will be most helpful from a practical standpoint. The meetings in this district will be fbllows:Tiverton, March 26th ; Pinker- ton, March :.27th ; Walkerton, March 228th Mi1dma,y, March 30th ; Tees - water, lvlarch 31st ; Kincardine, Apr- il 1st Lucknow, April2nch,: Brussels, April 3rd ; Blyth, April 4th ; Clin- ton, April ath ; Gederich, April 7th Hensall, April 8th Exeter, April 9th. This for brazen effrontery is perhaps the worst feature of the government's position. Yet it, eannot. be ventilated by the special Ross tribunal, One charge only will be considered. The criminals will take no greater chances than they are absolutely oornpelled to. This is the course offered in vin, dication of an aggregation whose whole political existence forms one of the blackest records that ever darken- ed the public life of a civilized coun- try. it is an attempt to legalize crime and stifle punishment of the •culprits, But it will doubtless receive' the condemnation it deserves, when Ontario is next heard from through the polis. IN=ere_ -eatateregra.-e_esee. PARLIAMENT. WEEK The. week in Parliament was an in- teresting one. On the budget debate, Mr. R. L. Borden and Mi. }F.D. Monk criticised the government's action and demanded that the fiscal polity should, be announced. Sir eS iltrid Laurier, in reply, told the House, that the Fielding tariff of 1897 embodied the Liberal Policy, Hon. Chas. E. Fitzpatrick defended the action of the government in par- doning Arthur Brunet, the scoundrel who stole the parliamentary Seat for 1. St: James' Division. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, on Wednesday explained his reasons for demanding Mr. .Tarte's 1 esignation. Mr, Tarte, replying, denied that he had been compelled to resign, and accused Laurier of deceit and unfair treat- ment of an old friend. The Liberal policy was again assail- ed, and the opposition asked whether the Free Trade or protectionist minis- ters are to be accepted as authorities on the tariff. It was shown that Hon, Messrs. Blair, Sifton and Pre- fontaine had violated the constitution quite as much as Mr. Tarte, but they were still in office. Mr. Tarte made a most important statement in saying that the accepted policy .of the Liberal party last year was ,'higher duties" Mr. Fielding admitted deceiving the manufacturers by making promises he had no intention of carrying out. In supply it was shown that the Minister of justice had systematically used the appointment of judges to serve political ends. • . Main estimates for $57,109,971 were brought down, showing an increase of $3,518,336 as compared with last year, Attention was called to the irregulari- ty of Sir Oliver Mowat holding office as Lieutenant•Governor of Ontario after his term had expired: Sir Wil- frid Laurier, who condemned such practices when in opposition, declared them to be all right under Liberal auspices, THE CAUSE OF DYSPEPTIC PAINS, • Improperly digested food usually forms gases usually forms gases that cause a painful distention of the heart and pressure against the heart, This results in much pain and distress, but Nerviline will relieve the disten- tion, dispel the gas, and cure the dyspeptic pains very quickly.
