eessary to wait, however, as catalogues
are av ilable now.
As.JI ck Beattie from Safari Arms states,
'The act that we have received More

Parker Hale rifles have been around for a
long time, and are very popular in Africa for
control work on big dangerous game. Let's
[face it! When you're dealing with something
at close range that can bite, claw, stomp or
gore you in a trifle, you want dependability.
That's why professionals look to Parker
Hale.
i But, it doesn't have to be for African game
'alone. There's the M81 Classic, a fine
example : pf British gunmaking, the 1100
Lightweight for today's trends, the 1200
Super, one of their most popular lines, the
1000 Standard and the 2100 Midland for
dependability at moderate price. There is
also a complete line of black powder
replicas.
Norma ammunition is another product
that is known world wide for its quality and
dependability. Safari Arms carries a wide

individual needs.
And there are cleaning accessories,
I.S.A. air rifles, and much much more.
Smelling out fish
Fishermen? Have you tried fish attrartor
scents yet? Ithot, you may be missing out.
Over the past 20 or so years., a super scent
would come on the market that was
guaranteed, to "make 'em bite", then it
would just fade away. I don't know if they
really worked or not, but there is mounting
eveidence that the ones which are being
!manufactured now DO work.
Scientists have always know that certain
scents or chemical reactions in water have
triggered behavioral patterns in fish, but it's
only been the last few years that they've
started to identify them.
'They now know that bait kairomones
attract gamefish„ sex pheromones incite
agressive behavior, , amino acids mask
human scent and "fright" pheromones from
thittfish dra w, deadly strikes.
The experts are using them, so maybe you
should be too. Have a look around your
favorite tackle store the next time you're
there. Captain Juice and Fish On are two I
know of, but there may be more.

Rare Species
Ontario's authoritative wildlife magazine,
the "ANGLER & HUNTER" is featuring
two rarely seen species.of wildlife in its July
issue.
The 'lynx is a species in transition.
Although once common throughout the
province, the lynx now finds its range slowly
shrinking northward as it competes with its
more adaptable southern cousin, the bobcat.
In addition, the lynx population fluctuates
cyclically as it follows the numerical ups
and downs of its major prey, the snowshoe
hare. As a result, this large cautious,
nocturnal eat is rarely spotted.
True or false? Examining the droppings of
a wild turkey can reveal the sex of the bird.
It's true, and that answer is worth one point
in the Turkey teaser Wildlife Quiz. Almost a
century ago, wild turkeys were as much a
part of Ontario's southerly landscape as the
hardwood forests they inhabited. In 1907, the
last bird in the province was lost when its
forest habitat was destroyed in the drive to
clear land for agricultural • development.
Now, with forest regrowth, the wild turkey
is being reestablished by conservationists
who appreciate Ontario's heritage of
wildlife diversity.
