for Kippen WI
By Margaret Hoggarth
KIPPEN-Will the Kippen East WI ever
forget tlle'.day they put a float in the
Tuckersnni h Sesquicentennial Parade?
Those tri mbers who participated enjoyed
dressing t e float up and there were 13
riding on the float. The seven wisest got off
at Van Egmond.• House. That left six
foolhardy members to • continue the route
back to Seaforth arena. Little did they
realise that ,the journey would be
•'overflow5'rg" with events with the rain. ,
Those • riding on the float were Ruby
Triebner,; Grace Eyre, Mary Broadfoot,
Mildred Chalmers, Mattie McGregor, Mary
Whitehouse,.Joyce Pepper, Mona Alderdioe,
Grace •Drummond, Helen MacLean,
Frances Kinsman,' Thea Wisch, and
Margaret •Hoggarth. Special thanks to
driver Doug McGregor who put up with all
the antics. •
The special quilt the WI worked on during
the vlinter; fnonths wasauctioned off
Saturday night and went to Ross McNichol
of Strat fordc<.' •

GODERICB TWP This is the last week
do submit your family _ ory stories for the
Goderiola" Township families book. There
can be noantee of inclusion of ANY
material submitted after this Saturday.
The reason this deadline is essential is
that it >,nust be known exactly how many
pages there well be in the finished edition in
order to price the book for advance sale dur-
ing the July celebrations (July 15 - 21),
If there is still room available after all the
submitted material is typeset then further
stories can be accepted but there is NO
GUARANTEE!
PHOTOS: The committee, doesn't need to
have .all the photos in by that date. The
deadline for photos is August 1st!
At the present time a 300 page, 9 x 11"
book with a• hardcover has been proposed
similar tothe first, Goderich Township
History, Vol 1:1984. However this time they
are going to print as many copies as have
been presold, so do contact anyone you think
would be interested and let them know.
Order forms will be on hand during the
July celebrations at Holmesville and after'
that copies can be purchased through Alison
Lobb, R.R. 2, Clinton, NOM 1LO (482-7167).
If 1000 copies are printed, they expect the
book to sell for $30. (plus postage if
necessary).
Persons purchasing their copy during Ju-
ly and August will be shown on a Patrons'
List at the back of the book. This tune the
names of ALL purchasers will be included
whether or not they live in the township. We
expect to include: Your name (including
maiden names). An Address - Lot and Con if
you live in Goderich Twp.; Twp if you are in
j'.; +,,.. a., ..•!:.aft t -.4 J,<,,
lingonContity, City or County in Ontario,
mut Province; or state it outside Ontario.
The coi ninittee would also like to indicate
(as done previousl1) whether or not you
were born when your parents were con-
sidered residents of the township. Once
again this. will be shown by anasterik beside
the name.
During the July celebrations, copies of
stories for _proof-reading will be available
which have been typed and are considered
completed, It's hoped that -EVERYBODY
connected to these "surnames will take the
time and trouble to readthe story over.
Quite often one person in the fanny has
fallen heir to the job of submitting data and
although they have done their best to be ac-
curate and complete, it is quite easy to
overlook something or make a mistake in
name spellings or birth dates. This is ,your
opportunity to cheek the story before it goes
to press. After the event, if you did not find
the time to check the.data, it Is. hoped you
will hold back your complaints!
Surnames completed to date (July 1st)
are: Abbott. Aldworth, Anderson. Andrews.
