to extend the services of the Society

• people in some of the larger centres of
the county in the work of child rescue.
• "Shall be pleased to hear from you
regarding the annual meeting. Am
very anxious to see a strong Society
for Hume County, as there is a
splendid field in your part of the
Province for this work. I wish it were
possible to secure a man to give most
i
of his time to the work, as n the case
of Rev. Jas, Lediard, of Owen Sound.
Be• acts as agent for the counties of
Grey. Huron and part of Simcoe, and,
by contributions from the various
places, the Society is able to remuner-
ate him to the extent of about $400
per year, although at first they were
only able to give him $100. Re is ac-
complishing a splendid wink, looking

district. It all depends on • securing
the rightman- one who, by his tact-

PRESBYTERY OF HURON
The Presbytery of Huron met in
Knox church, Goderich, on Tuesday,
Mr. Larkin of Seaforth was appointed
moderator for the next six months.
The records of several of the sessions
were examined and attested. Mr.
Carrier° reported. that the debt upon
the manse in his charge of Grand Bend
and Corbett had been fully paid, The
Presbytery expressed its satisfaction
with this report and recommended the
same grant as before front the Aug-
mentation Fund. Ib was agreed to
ask a grant of $50 for the charge of
Bayfield and Bethany and a similar
grant for the charge of Varna and
Blake. The clerk was directed to con-
vey to the widow and family of the
late Principal McVicar of Montreal
the sympathy of the Presbytery evith
them in their recent bereaventent. In
view of the -large roajority in fayor of
the referendum the Presbytery unani-
mously expressed the opinion that the
government, of •the province would be
Justified in re -introducing the 'restric-
tive features of that bill at the next
-meeting of the legislature with a view
to their enactment and expressed the
hope that this would be done. Upon
the presentation of the report of Pres-
byterial Women's Foreign Missionary
Society the following resolution was
unanimously and heartily p "sed:
"The Presbytery hereby expresses
their high appreciation of the self deni-
al anti labors ot the Women's Foreign
IVIISSiOnary Societies, Within the
bounds and their gratitude to God for
the success which has crowned their
efforts during the year. They especial-
ly record their satisfaction with the
increase of coutributions, the amount
of which is considerably in excess of
that of the preceding year. They also
express their belief that the growing
interest, in Foreign Missions. through-
out the Charch is largely due to their
efforts, And pray that the Divine bles-
sing may richly attend all their fut-
ure efforts to promote this great
work."
