Sunday Morning at the ,Laondesboro United
Church were Rev. Dave SAW and Sore
Tamblyn while ushers were Julia Shadtlxek,
I<erri Shepherd and Sandy and Julie
Merner.
The flowers on the memorium table were
from Jim Neilans in memory of his mother
and Maimie Allen.
The congregation was reminded that next
Sunday is Christian Family Sunday.
The children's time featured "I've got the
Joy" and junior teachers were Barbara
Knox and Melanie.
Shower for May bride elect
Approximatley 50 village friends and
neighbors met at church May 3 to present
best wishes and gifts to Cheryl Reid. Cor-
sages were pinned on the bride, her mother
Edna Reid and the groom's mother Delores
Wheeler.
A wedding bingo by Judy Mason was won
by Dorothy Airdire. Rosie Mason gave a
reading called "Pressuring a Husband" and
Nancy Sottiaux gave a reading about
Cheryl.
Gifts were presented to Cheryl by
Kimberley and Marilyn Mayberry and
Christine aed Kara Lee Potter.
Burns UCW
Burns UCW meeting was held May 1 at the
home of Caron Snihur with 18 members pre-
sent.
Trudy Pollard opened the meeting and
Caron Snihur read the scripture. Trudy
Pollard's lesson was "In your own back
yard."
Amelia Rice conducted the business. Roll
call was answered with a Bible verse. The
treasurer's report was given by Margaret
Taylor. An invitation was received from
Winthrop to their meeting June 5 at 8 p.m.
Elsie Williams, Gowanstown missionary
nurse will be guest speaker.

AUBURN -On March 14, the Auburn 2 4-11
Sewing Club had its fifth meeting at the
home of Linda Cunningham.
For the roll call we discussed the sewing
machine parts, then divided into two
groups. Groun one played a game - Trivia
Persuit. This game had to do With, sewing
and things we had discussed in our former
meetings. .Group two did ribbing. Leader,
Linda Cunningham, explained how to do it.
Then- we each did a sample piece of
material. Then the groups switched, We
looked over the 4H information inthe books.
We decided the next meeting would be on
April 12. Glenyce McClinchey, president,
closed the meeting with the new motto -
"Together today for a terrific tomorrow." -

The Jolly Joggers held their -sixth meeting
on April 12: The minutes were read and we
answered the roll call. We discussed how to
sew the waistline casting, and how to sew
the hem of o.ur garments. After we finished
discussing this meeting lesson, we 'had a
simple memory test, Linda Cunningham
collected some items from her sewing box.
First we examined these items, then we had
to write the items down. - Press Reporter,

On April 12 we had meeting number
seven. The meeting was opened by Glenyce
McClinchey. For the roll call two people
showed their ready-to-wear garments pic-
tures and read the reasons for purchasing or ,
making it. We read about outside seams on.
shirts in "Flashdance" style. We then decid-
ed on whether we should buy them, or make
.them if we could. We talked of some things
for Achievement day, May 15, We decided to
meet again on May 7th for the finishing
touches on the year. Glenyce McClinchey
closed the meeting with. the 4H Motto. -

the cancer drive. A total of $322 was turned
in by the village.
Shuffleboard.
End of the season shuffleboard was held
May 1 with 21 present. High scores were
earned by Betty Hulley, Vietta Hoggart and
Les Reid. Lunch was served and Genevieve
Allen expressed thanks from all to Jack and
Helen Lee, the school custodians and
Audrey Thompson for bookkeeping.
Personals...
Sympathy is extended to Len Radford and
Mrs. Gordon Howatt and families on the
death at age 81 of their mother Mrs.
Clarence Rath of Belgrave.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Vodden and Mrs. Frank
Johnston attended the May 2 funeral of their
cousin Ken McNee, Dungannon, a car acci-
dent victim at age 40, held at the McCallum
Funeral Home.
On May 1 the Blyth Fire Brigade was call-
ed to a fire at John Byhna's shed at the noth
end of the village..
The village welcomes Alan and Marie
Caldwell and boys Dwight and Dean having
moved in April from Auburn to the Caldwell
Homestead on Concession 11 lot 19 in Hullett
Township.-

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee of Lonteshoro
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Radford in
Niagara Falls and called on Rev. and Mrs.
Brandon at Beamsville. Rev. Brandon was
presented with his 25 year pin from the
Hullett Lodge.
Crystal Hulley returned to her home in
Clinton Friday night having spent two
weeks with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Hulley and one week with her aunt Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Johnston while her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Ian Hulley were in Germany.
They visited Debbie's brother Corporal
Robert Vello at Lahr, Germany and toured
seven countries in Europe.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Westerhout returned
home on May 6 from spending the winter
months in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Westerhout visited on
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hank
Westerhout, Hanover, and attended the
christening of grandson Christopher.
On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Good
and Sara Lyons visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Lyons and attended the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church anniversary service.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick spent Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Shaddick, Dan-
ny, Stephen and Krystal, Brantford, honor-
ing Ruth for Mother's Day.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Thompson were their family Beth and Ray-
