Hensall to hold appreciation night

HENSALL - The manager and staff of the
Bank of Montreal invite Seniors of Hensall
and area to Senior Appreciation Night in
Hensall United Church, Wednesday, May 8
at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol attended an an-
niversary dinner in honor of their cousins
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Van Dyke in Listowel
on Saturday.
Mrs. Alice Ferg visited last week with her
sister and brot'ier-in-law Mr. and Mrs.
George Coulter in Listowel.
The Hensall Area Horticultural Society
are meeting in the Hensall United Church on
Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. Guest speaker
will be Bernard Hack, Kincardine, who will
speak on "Organic Vegetable Gardening".
There will be a plant auction and
refreshments.
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted worship
in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Carolyn Love presided at the organ for the
service of song. Rev. Kenneth Knight will be
in New York for the second part of his
course May 5-10. The Rev. A.C. Young of
Goderich will supply in his place.
Hazel Corbett spent a few days last week
visiting with her son-in-law and daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chaffe and family at
Mitchell and also visited with her great-
granddaughter Michelle Donna daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joey Chaffe.
Amber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall are
holding a Dessert Euchre on Wednesday,
May 8 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to
attend.
Queensway News
On Monday afternoon bingo was played at
Queensway Nursing Home. Several ladies
from Carmel Presbyterian Church joined
in. They provided the prizes, as well as
refreshments after the games. Thanks to
Florence Hyde, Margaret Hoggarth, Gertie
Moir and Elizabeth Faber for sharing their
time.
The church service on Tuesday afternoon
was led by Rev- Jim Sitton from Exeter
Anglican church. Mrs. Lavender assisted
and Ethel Forrest played the piano.
The ceramic club met Wednesday morn-
ing. Lil Baker and Erlene Stewart were
there to lend a hand. Members hope to have
many different articles ready to sell for the
open house on June 2.
The staff had a Bridal Shower for Janine
Heimple who is getting married on May 18.
Janine is wished all the best in her married
life.
Movie night on Wednesday evening
featured a film entitled "Big Horn". This
film presented a tour of the Rocky Moun-
tains with John Denver as commentator.
The scenery was breathtaking.
The Baking Club met Thursday afternoon.
As usual their culinary efforts were
delightful. They baked brownies, oatmeal
cookies and cherry winks. '

The Three . Links Senior. Citizens held a
successful bake sale and crafts in the local
hall on Saturday-thanks,to all helpers.
Ira Geiger is a patient in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter where he is receiving
treatment. •
The residents of Northcrest Home
welcome back Rose Pyke from the South.
The Chipchases have also returned and are
golting everyaay..nm anal Emma Lox of
Bayfield were recent visitors with Glen
McKnights'. Wes Heywood visited with his
sisters at Petrolia on Sunday. Dot Munroe
visited on Sunday with her husband Eric at
Parkhill.

A beautiful and impressive confirmation
service was held at the Hensall United
Church Sunday morning when Karen Lynn
Hoffman and Steven Edward McCullough
were received through Profession of Faith.
Elders assisting with the service were Clair
Hoffman and Cindy Taylor with Sharon
Wurm, Clerk of Session assisting the
minister. Ross Riley greeted the congrega-
tion and the ushers were Tim Rowcliffe, Rod
Parker, Steven Gerstenkorn, and Donald
Wareing. The choir, assisting in the Service
of Confirmation sang three selections.
Following the service the Confirmation
Class were received by the new members
along with/ their parents and Elders. the
UCW served lunch for the reception.
Flowers at the front of the church were
:placed in memory of Mrs. Murray (Evelyn)

that Baptismal Service will be held next
Sunday and anyone wishing to present their
children for baptism should contact their
District Elder or the Church Office.
Rev. McDonald attend the wedding on
Saturday in Londesboro United Church for
Susan Jamieson and David Hart. Following
their wedding trip Susan and David will be
residing in Hensall.
Couple return from Florida vacation

KIPPEN - Biirbara McGregor, daughter
of Doug and Ann McGregor, has returned
home from Stratford Hospital after having
an appendix operation.
Doug and Ann McGregor have returned
from a two-week vacation in Florida. Julie
Wright, daughter of Evelyn Wright, has left
for Calgary, Alberta, to work for the Nova
Corporation for four months.
Greg Hoggarth has returned from his
four-month stay in Ottawa to complete his
studies at the University of Waterloo.
Congratulations are extended to Les and
Jane Coleman on the birth of a daughter,
and to Bill and Norma Coleman for their
first grandchild.
A number of Kippen residents•joined with
June and Lloyd Cooper in Hensall on April
27 to help them celebrate 25 years of mar-
riage. Our best wishes for the future goes
out to them. The sympathy of the communi-
ty is extended to Murray Traquair and fami-
ly; on the death of his wife Evelyn.

Pastor Don Moffat presided in the pulpit
at St. Andrew's on April 28 with Barb Cooper
accompanying the hymns at the organ.
Music was provided by Candice and Barb
Cooper playing selections on the piano.
Pastor Moffat's sermon was entitled, "A
Parable of Passion".
