Fo rres t Week
Forests have different attractions for us.
Some see the beauty, the solitude, the
wildlife, the clear, cool streams. Others see
work, products, sales and revenues. All are
benefits of the forest and all of them are of
benefit to us in varying degrees.
National Forest Week, May 5-11, is a time.
to focus our attention on the benefits of the
forests rather than the wrangling that goes
on about and within them. The theme this
year is simply "You Need Forests." How
true that is.'
Wood, water, wildlife, recreation, jobs,
clean air, taxes....the list of forest benefits
goes on and on. Our forests are an important
resource which we in Ontario should know
more about. National Forest Week is a good
time to begin. *by Phyllis Mitchell. They told of their trip
