Wm. Pollen will shortly move to
the farm on the boundary, now oc-
cupied by Wm. Kerslake. Mr. Kers-
lake will reside in Exeterprevious to
his departure to the Northwest in the
spring.
Mr. Frank Lutz of Gananoque spent
a few days of last week with his par-
ents, Dr. and Mrs. Lutz. Frank is an
Exeter boy who has many friends
here, who R ere pleased to shake hands
with him again.
The dates of the winter and spring
sittings of the circuit judges are an-
nounced. Mr. Justice Ferguson will
be in Goderich on Tuesday, March 17,
for the jury assizes and Mr. Chief
Justice Falconbridge will hold the
non -jury sittings beginning Thursday,
June 25.
Captain W. D. Andrews, the blind
life saver and newsdealer at Shuter
and Yonge streets, Toronto, died at
St. Michael's Hospital about 10
o'clock:on Wednesday night last,from
apoplexy. The blind life-saver was
born in Kingston on May 19th, 1853,
and in his early days worked on the
water front there.
The returns for the past year show
an increase in the number of commit-
ments in Ontario for drunkenness.
The total was 2,522 last year, but dur-
ing 1901-2 the number, it is stated.will
be 2,700, Most of the increases are
credited to London, Toronto and
Sarnia, while at Ottawa, Sudbury. and
Hamilton there were •decreases. 29
jails reported and increase, and 22
reduction.
