Kinettes sponsor babysitting course for teens CLINTON - The Clinton Kinettes held their March general meeting at Clinton Public School on March 21. Bette Dalzell opened the meeting with the Kinette song. Following the reports of the registrar and secretary -treasurer, the upcoming projects were discussed. The Kinettes will host this year's In- terclub Volleyball Tournament on April 30. The Zone Conference is being held in Mit- chell on Monday, April 22. The fee of $10 should be paid to Mary Ann Chambers by pril 5. Once again, the Kinettes will sponsor the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic at CHSS on May 15. The Babysitting Course will begin on Wednesday, March 27, for five consecutive weeks at Clinton Public Hospital Board Room from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The class still has availability for three more students. Anyone interested should contact Linda Bosman at 482-9460 or Dorothy Boughen at 482-7951. This course is an excellent resource for 12 year olds who are interested in babysitting. The registration fee of $5 covers booklets and films used for in- struction. The annual Hawaiian Dance/CF Project proved successful for another year. The Kinettes will match the profit of $322; therefore, a presentation of $600 will be given to The Cystic Fibrosis Association. The Epilepsy Association will also receive a donation of $50. A fun evening of volleyball followed the meeting. Lunch was provided by Carol Lobb 'and Bette Dalzell. Mary Wood won the draw prize. Cheryl Hohner will hold the next ex- ecutive meeting on April 1 at 8 p.m. Perth board to buy computers PERTH - The Perth County Board of Education has approved spending $131,500 • on computer education this year which will see 62 ICON computers placed throughout the five high schools in Perth. The school board approved the spending at its March 6 meeting. The 'ICON computer, is the machine the Ministry of Educationhad made to its specifications. It was 'originally known as the "bionic beaver." Computer consultant John Bruder said adding the 62 ICONs to the secondary schools will bring the number of ICONS in each of the five secondary -schools up to 16. He said the purpose is to give each school one computer lab 16 ICONs hooked up to one Lexicon file server which stores infor- mation. Recreation news ® from page 3A every household. Tired of win -at -all costs, three games a week soft- ball? Well, the Clinton Recreation Commit- tee has just the thing for you,- a Co-ed, soft- ball league! This league is open to softball players (or those 'who would like to try or learn to play) of ages 19 to too old to admit your age. The League will .feature a three - pitch rule, 10 better maximum per inning, seven inning, everyone must play and hit (and have fun) and supply your own pitcher system. Plan now to make up your own team, or plan to -be part of a team, or plan to cheer on a team! But don't plan not to be part of this world-class softball league! The Clinton Recreation Committee has made arrangements for a learn how to Break Dance Course. This course is open to children of ages six to 12 years. Classes begin Tuesday evening, April 9, at the Clin- ton Arena Auditorium. Classes are held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and participants are en- couraged to wear running shoes, sweat suits and of course head bands. This unique in- structional program will be fun and a well- rounded learning experience for all par- ticipants. Arena Closure The Clinton Arena will be closed from Monday April 1 to Monday April 15 due to maintehance work. Make pans to be part of the many upcoming events to begin in mid- . April. Last year the people of Clinton and sur- rounding area contributed generously to this very worthwhile cause and Campaign Chairman for Clinton, Steve Fraser, feels that the $2,800 raised last year can be indeed exceeded. Mr. Fraser reports • that by giving to the Easter Seal. Telethon, children in need con- tinue to be provided with essential equip- ment and rehabilitative services to help them progress in life. This is a goal which the Clinton Lions Club and the Society have always been firmly committed to. Physical- Telet Con ly disabled children are different than any other children. The people of Clinton have always shown in the past that they care about the quality of life for these special children, not only in our community but for more than 6,500 other Easter Seal kids throughout Ontario. .
