Clinton News-Record, 1985-3-27, Page 11• Children are rocks of church By Blanche Deeves MIDDLETON - Morning Prayer was held in St. James' Anglican Church on March 24 with Rev. A. Bell officiating. The Sunday School was well attended. Rev. Bell spoke to the children on the rock being built by Grade 4 class at Holmesville School. One of the children, Jeff Wain, told of his work, Rev. Bell also told the children how they are the rocks of the church. St. James welcomed visitors Mr. and Mrs. Murdock Morrison. Edward beeves and Jim Storey received the offering. The Song Books recently gathered at the Rectory. Those taking part were Audrey Middleton, Lois Wise, Blanche Deeves and Rev. Bell. They sat about the living room and went through the song books. More news to follow. Upcoming events include: March 26-28 Rev. Bell will attend the Start-up Workshop Ancaster. March 27 Mid -week Holy Commu- nion and study. Anglicanism at Middleton - 9:30 a.m. March 28 - Box Social at Steinstra's and cards. All couples welcome. March 29 Middleton Board Meeting - 8 p.m. April 5- The CHSS Christian Fellowship is sponsoring and evening of fellowship and praise. followed by testimonies and a musical by a Christian Youth Choir, The Reflections, from Rockford, Illinois. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Central Huron Secondary School Gym. The Good Friday service at St. James will be directed at youth, but all are welcome to join. April 7 1-5-0 Easter Celebration at Holmesville Hall at 2 p.m. Come hear The Ecumenical choir from all the township. The 1-5-0 School Section No. 10 held a suc- cessful meeting last week at the home of Don and Audrey Middleton. Join the Enterprising Seniors on March 28 for a trip to Schilbe's sugar bush. CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27. 1985—Page 11 Tuckersmith. awarded $2,589 grant TUCKERSMITH - A community planning grant of $2,589 has been awarded to the Township of Tuckers -with announced Den- nis R. Timbrell, Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Timbrell said the grant will be used to prepare community improvement policies for the municipality, using the services of the Huron County Planning Department. Comrnunity planning grants are desinned to encourage municipalities to resolve land use planning issues to reflect municipal and economic priorities. The grants may also be used for special studies to develop community improvement policies; to determine the feasibility of us- ing data processing technology in the local planning process; and to assist in im- plementing the Planning Act. Book covers discussed at meeting On March 20 at Bev Van Ninhuys the 4-H Sensational Seamstresses met for meeting four. One member was absent. We opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Then I read the minutes of meeting three. We then talked about the cover of our books discussing what we would put on it. Then we read over our books and closed the meeting before starting on our samples, with the 4-H pledge. (Shelley McPhee photo) Wall hanging to be on display March 28 By Milena Lobb GODERICH TWP. - The SS 4 Community Club met at the home of Marlene Forbes for the March meeting with President Marilyn Forbes opening the meeting. Assistant Secretary, Milena Lobb read the minutes of the February meeting and Treasurer, Marlene Forbes gave the financial report. .Thank you cards were received from Tom Lobb, Lorne Tyndall, Helen Lobb and Lula Merrill. Nine members answered roll call with "What I do to pass a stormy day." Tha Anril meeting Will he held at the home of Roba Lobb on April 3. A $10 donation will be sent to the Heart Fund. As the wall hanging, would soon be com- pleted, ompleted, the complicated form for the raffle was completed and the tickets ordered. The tickets will be available from any member and the hanging will be on display on March 28 at the Community Centre when the Seniors are having their pancakes and sausages. No more Seniors donate quilt to. hospital CLINTON - The Golden Radars Senior Citizens Chlb held its St. Patrick's Day Pot - Luck Supper meeting on March 20: Faye Fear of the Clinton Hospital Board also attended the meeting and explained some of the requirements of the hospital and where money will be spent in the future. The seniors donated a quilt to the Hospital Celebrity Auction, to be held on April 13. In keeping with the meeting's Irish theme, the door prize for the evening was a shamrock plant. It was won by Minlue Rum. bull. Ida Godkin gave some Irish readings and Webster played some Irish tunes on the mouth organ. • Euchre was played and winners included: high scorers, Rachel Johnston and Mabel McAdam; low scorers, Irene Glazier. and Ernie Brown. It was a very intel•esting place to visit and we were surprised to learn one could have a very inexpensive holiday there. Don and Marilyn Forbes have returned from a week in sunny warm Jamaica. Doug- and Gertrude Feagan left for Lakeland, Florida for a month . but Doug found himself in the hospital for a gall blad- der operation so they had a longer stay.
