This rock, the ingenious design of Bob Elliott and the Grade 4 class at Holmesville Public School will be used as part of the special Easter Celebration service for the Goderich Township 1-5-0. The rock will be placed on a hill along with three crosses to decorate the scene for the April 7 service, to be held at 2 p.m. at Homesville- For several weeks the Grade 4 students, and ' teacher Mrs. Latulippe have been meeting at the Goderich Township Shed to. construct the huge rock from papier mache. The 29 students, their teacher and two Grade 8 helpers, Bonnie Bell . and Debbie Smith, have been making a daily trek .to the shed, courtesy of Murphy Bus lines and driver Darrell Abbott. The students and teacher have found the creative experience both fun and frustrating. Mrs. Latulippe noted, "I never expected the rock to be'so big, I thought we could work on this in the classroom." Students have had similar reactions; par- ticularly on the day the rock collapsed. Jeff Wain said of that experience, "I think we should can it." But with determination, a few threats, and less favorable alternative - classroom studies - the rock builders have endured. The builders are more impressed with the effects of dried wallpaper .paste on their hands, then they are the size of the rock, more than eight feet high and 10 feet wide. The students prefer to talk about their dry and sticky fingers and the "fish scale" look of the dried paste on their fingers and arms. The huge rock will be one of the main features of the community Easter Sunday service, to be held in Holmesville on Sun= day, April 7. A service, called an'Easter Celebration, will be held at the Goderich Township Com- munity Centre. It will, be a visual and musical event, featuring a variety of local. talent. The Brass Quintet from Central Huron Secondary School, three trumpeters and a 50 -voice community choir will provide the special Easter music. The Easter story will be told through scriptures, prayers and poems, ` with the assistance of two lay readers, and led .by Mr. Elliott. A unique aspect of the event will be a visual presentation .outlining historical and present day life in Godefich Township, and the life that Christ died for. The slide presentation will run concurrently with the service. Pancake Day. to be held at Maple Bush maple syrup production, from the past anu present. Pancakes, sausages and Maple Keys syrup will be available. Maple Keys Sugar Bush is located 10 kin west of Listowel, two concessions south 'of Hwy. No. 86 on Grey Township sideroad 30- 31.
