five people to fill the key positions on the ex-
ecutive.
After going around the table in an attempt
to coax various people into taking a position,
the consensus was /bat everyone was• too
busy.
You can't blame someone who is already
contributing their tune to minor hockey for
not wanting to take on the responsibilities of
the junior team as well. And even though
they are already doing their part for the
community, many of these people said they
would be willing to help out in another
capacity. It is those people who are in-
terested in the sport and not yet involved
that are desperately needed.
The type of people the organization is
looking for to sit on the executive are people
who are retired or semi -retired. As Mr.
Wright said, "It's going to take an awful lot
of hard work" to get the team back on its
feet, and in order to do the work, the club
needs people who have the time.
Another big concern is whether the team,
if it is to continue, should stay in Junior Cor
go back to Junior D.
From what I understand, Junior C is abet-
ter calibre of hockey, involves more travell- ecutive. But whatever it was, happened -a
ing for the Clinton team and, because it is a few years ago and now they need to concen-
better brand of hockey, requires the team, to trate on rebuilding the enthusiasm that once

For these reasons, and the fact that the March 26 will tell the tale. If enough peo-

But deciding whether the club should stay
at ,its present level or not is useless at this
stage. There first has to be an executive and
people who are willing to help out at the
Junior C or Junior D level.
Last year the club went through the same
problems. They thought the franchise was
going to fold because they couldn't get
enough people to volunteer for the ex-
ecutive. At that time, former president
Larry Daw said, "If you can't stand up and
take the positions, then you don't deserve a
team."
It appears that this is what the entire issue
will come down to. And if the rumors are
true, the minute the franchise slips thr9ugh
Clinton's hands, a town down the road will
be after it.
Sure the Mustangs have had a few bad
years, but there was a time when they were
winning games and had money in the bank.
This proves that the town really can support
a team, all they need is a winner. But that is
easier said than done.
Mustang Coach Dan Colquhoun was par-
tially right when he said they have to find
out what turned everyone off joining the ex -

The Clinton Pee Wees had a busy March Break as they took part in the Goderich Young
Canada Week (YCW) and then hosted Brampton to a game at the Clinton Arena. The
local team made it as far as the consolation semi-finals in the C division during YCW.
They lost their opening game to Milverton, 5-4 in overtime on March 12. That evening
they defeated Lambeth, 5-4 advancing to the semi-finals where they faced -off against
Mitchell. Clinton came up short as Mitchell, who went on to win the consolation title,
doubled them, 4-2. Clinton also lost to Brampton on March 14, 7-4. (Anne Narejko photo)
