meeting on March 10, with a full turnout of
committee members. Committee members

Sports Results
Results from the uchre play at the Clinton
Legion on March 5 included: High Score -
Van Egmond with 89; Lone Hands - -eight"
I must be a record of some kind) with four
pupil pail Middleton, Jewell, McDonald,
Kerr, Corey, Alexander, Jenkins and Pat
Mahon; Low Score - Harold Black with 52.
There were 12 tables present.
In the first year of competition in the
Bluewater Ladies Dart League, Clinton
Legion Ladies came out on top. The team
comprised of: Karen Greidanus; (Captain),
Annie Sallows, Doris Chambers, Madelon
Yeats, Nancy McLay and Rosemary Arm-
strong, completed league play on March 9.
Six points ahead of their closest rivals,
Goderich "A" Team.
Teams from Goderich (3), Wingham,
Brussels (2), Fish and Game, Clinton and
the Clinton Legion participated. Congratula-
tions ladies, as always a job well done.

Len Mills of Greenwood, CFB Nova Scotia,
Coach of the Greenwood Bombers Hockey
Club went on to win the Canadian Forces
Atlantic Region Hockey Championship and
now advances to CFB National Finals in
Petawawa, Ont. to compete against CFB
teams from Victoria, B.C., Cold Lake,
Alberta, Quebec and Ontario.
Branch 140 is proud of CPL Len Mills and
wish him success and the very best. Com-
rade Len is now starting his eighth year in
the Armed Services.

becoming Canadian citizen

KIPPEN - The March meeting of Kippen
East will be on Wednesday, March 20 at 8
:,..p.m. Members note the date and time! The
hostess will be Mona Alderdice. Speaker will
be Thea Wisch on becoming a Canadian
Citizen.. Roll call to be answered by "Where
I cast my first ballot."
The "Energetic Eight" met at the home of
Bob and -Frances Kinsman on March 8.
Cards were played and winners were: Men's
low - Bob Kiiisnlan, Al Hoggarth captured
the high prize. Frances Kinsman was
awarded the ladies' low, with Margaret •
Hoggarth winning the ladies' high. If•Spring
is just around the corner, the -get-togethers
1 will be halted while everyone prepares for
seeding.
4-H'news -
• Theresa Van Dorp reports this week for
the Kippen III 4-H club. This spring the club
is called "Action Wear". The first meeting
was held on February 19 at the home of
leader Joyce Wilson. We opened with the 4-1-1
pledge and appointed theclub' officers.
President - Janice Moffat,. Vice -President -
Paulette Predhomme. Secretary - to be
floating. Press Reporters - .Jane Papple and
Theresa Van Dorp. Treasurer - Yvette,
Predhomnle. Telephone -Karen DeJong and
,Paulette Predhomme.
We then started on the 4-H,books'and took
measurements for thegarnlents which we
liave to make. We'then discussed what we
had to bring to the next meeting - materials.

Kippon IIi - 4-11` Club, which was held" on
February 26 at Brucefield United Church.
The meeting was opened with the 4-11 pledge
and minutes were read by Janice Moffat.
We then checked each other's books to make
sure they Were up-to-date.'We discussed a
name for our club, but haven't -decided on
one yet. For •roll call, each of us brought
three knit garments to show and describe,to
the other members. Although„ we had all
purchased our patterns, fabrics. -and notions;
we read about choosing them and fourid that
mast of us had the right•choices..We then,,
li•hrked on our pattern lay -out.

Home again
Margaret Hoggarth reporting - Hello - I
have returned from an, exciting eight day
stay in England. While there I visited with
my mother in Walthamstow and my sister
Janet in Theydon Bois. This trip was a
surprise to them as I went over to help my
sister' and husband ::celebrate their 25th
wedding anniversary:
Spring has sprung over .there. I saw
snowdrops and crocuses, but in spite of their
bad winter nota sign of snow. My landing in
Gatwick; England was delayed four hours
due to fog, but it didn't seem too long as I
, had a great travelling companion who
hailed from Quebec and she just happened
to be going tq Theydon Bois for a wedding -
it's a small world isn't it? !.
The return flight on March 6 was'on time.
and I enjoyedll) the beautiful . winter
wonderland scenery from Toronto to Kip-,
pen, where everything -was covered with ice •
° and the Sun captured the beauty of it all as if
diamonds had been scattered everywhere.
McKillop quits area
landfill committee

costs and frustrated by bureaucracy,
McKillop 'township's representative on the
Seaforth and Area Landfill Committee has
quit.-
"We're pulling out mainly because there
doesn't seem to -be any progress and it's
costing a lot of money," said McKillop
Reeve Marie Bicknell. She said the search
for a new diunp site had already cost
McKillop Township more than $24,000.
Reeve Bicknell was also dissatisfied with
the. provincial Ministry of the
Environment's role in the -search: "The
-Ministry of the Environment has a lot to say,
but itdoesn't seem to be doing much.".
