Today that is true for less than two per cent. I'm not in that two per cent. My job doesn't require climbing a lot of stairs daily or carrying heavy equipment, although after a long day the camera bag seems quite heavy. But I am fortunate enough to be -able to get away from my desk several times a day. Last weekend it was my turn to do the Saturday and Sunday assignments. After finishing work in the darkroom I looked out the front window of the News -Record to see if them was any excitement on Albert Street. Nothing as dramatic as a fire or acci- dent was taking place, but for the first time this year, people were out walking their dogs, pushing their youngsters in strollers, riding bicycles and motorcycles and simply enjoying the weather. • Having accomplished enough in the darkroom I decided it was time to grab a camera and capture these spring signs. (Little did I know old man winter would be back on Tuesday.). After taking a few pictures on Albert Street, I decided to venture down some of the less travelled streets. Since I hadn't completed all the work 1 wanted to at the office, I told myself that taking the camera along was just another way of doing some work. But once I got off Albert Street, the sunshine, smiling faces and bare roads made me forget about the camera around my neck. I've read many times that walking is one of the best ways to exercise. It doesn't in- crease your heart beat suddenly and it doesn't put excess stress on your knees. I never took any of that seriously. I always thought that walking was a boring way to exercise. My opinion changed on Sunday. Walking allows a person to breathe in the fresh air in- stead of gasping for air. The scenery is also much more interesting when you can see things clearly instead of just glancing to the side while you race by. And most important- ly, you can walk with no discomfort the following day because your muscles haven't been suddenly over used. I enjoyed my walk so much,, I dropped off the camera, went home for some supper and then ventured out for a walk in the evening. In the Goderich series, the Clinton boys had very little trouble beating Goderich. two straight games 10-2 and 4-0. ' The Seaforth series proved to be a little tougher for the local boys. Having been elimin ted by Seaforth earlier in the O.M. A. playoffs, Clinton was out for revenge. On March 1 Clinton travelled to Seaforth for the first game of the best of three. Both teams came out skating hard but Ricky Pickett scored the first at 8:20 off the first, assist going to Tim Worthington. They were able to hold Seaforth scoreless until the 7:33 mark when they evened the score at one each. The score remained that way until the 10:27 of the third when the hard work of Mike Ladd paid off and gave the Clinton boys a 2-1 lead, assists went to Ricky Pickett and Mike Corrie. Seaforth applied the pressure but Clinton held on for a 2-1 win. In the second game, Clinton opened the scoring at the 6:53 mark when Jason MacLean picked up a pass 'from Rick Lobb and' gave Clinton the lead. In the second Seaforth rebounded with two goals to take the lead. • Not wanting to go back to Seaforth for a third game the Clinton boys came out skating and checking. Bryan Beattie found the mark at 12:50, assisting were - Greg Falconer and Scott Glen. The score remain- ed tied at the end of regulation time. Clinton outshot Seaforth 31-17. In the overtime it was hard skating and checking by both teams. Again it was Bryan Beattie who found the mark when he picked up a pass from Jim Hill and tucked it behind the Seaforth goalie. This proved to be the winner and advanced Clinton to the finals Turn to page 15 fice at 482-3398.
