Tickets are available from the 8ox Office (523-9300) and the Blyth Saga (523-4331).-7,8or Pianist to give benefit concert BLY'I'tl - The Blyth Festival welcomes Anne McLean who will be giving a benefit performance on Tuesday, February 19 at 8:00 p.m. The program, consisting of works by Handel, Scarlatti, Haydn, Brahms and Canadian composer Barbara Pentland, is• certain to delight musical enthusiasts. A resident of London, Ontario, Anne McLean studied piano at the University of Calgary. She received scholarships to con- tinue her education in both Salzburg and Geneva under the guidance of Carlos Zeechi and Eduardo Vercelli. During this period Scouts -Guide set to celebrate 75th 75th birthday . CLINTON February will be a busy month for the Guiding Movement! In con- junction with Scout/Guide Week (Feb. 17 to 24 ), many special activities are planned. One of these is a special Thinking Day Ser- vice at St. George's Church in Goderich on Feb. 17 at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in the movement is welcome to attend. February also marks the beginning of our annual Cookie Campaign. Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders began canvassing for orders on February 9 with delivery being in late April. Please be sure to order yours now! As a special treat, a limited number of cookies (only 120 boxes) will be available for sale with instant delivery on February 22 at the Bank of Montreal. If you can't wait until April for a taste, be sure to drop in at the Bank then. As 1985 is the 75th Anniversary of the Guiding Movement, Clinton is planning a special Guiders Reunion set for June 22. If you know of anyone who was a Guider in the past and who has since moved away, please give 'her address to Janet Cameron (482- 7925) . June 1 will see several thousand members of the movement converging on Kitchener for a special rally — approximately 6000 are expected! Imagine, what a spectacular event this will be. Clinton currently has approximately 30 Brownies, 25 Guides, and 10 Pathfinders. For more information, contact any member. of the movement. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! Bab, Chris, Matt and Erica Love Jackie she performed concerts in many ;parts of Switzerland, France and Austria. Since returning to Canada, she has resumed her career as a soloist, teacher and' adjudicator. She has given many recitals in western Canada and has broadcast on CBC radio. At present she is completing her doctorate in musical arts at,the University of BritishCol- umbia. Anne McLean's performance of work by Handel and Scarlatti is a particularly apt way to begin 1985 on the Blyth stage since this year marks the tricentenary of their births. To help celebrate. the Festival has set special prices for this benefit: $3.00 per adult, $5.00 per family and only $1.00 for music students. One Night Stand tickets now on sale � BLYTH — Single tickets for the comedy - thriller One Night Stand presented by The Theatre Circle at Blyth Memorial hall March 7, 8 and 9 are now on sale from the Theatre Circle box office. Carol Bolt's international hit tells the story of Daisy who, when none of her friends shows up for her birthday party, goes out and brings home a complete stranger for her party. As the night goes on she finds Rafe not only charming and romantic but in- creasingly mysterious. It's a play, that has audiences laughing right up until a chilling climax. There will be a senior citizens matinee of the play at 2 p.m. on March 7 with special reduced prices of $6 and a further reduction to only $5 for groups of 20 and more. Tickets for the evening performances at $7.50. Vouchers for both One Night Stand and the second production, the comedy T.G.I.F. are still available from the box office or from volunteers who have been conducting a sales campaign throughout the area. If you're tired of all your own records, you can borrow some from the Clinton Branch Library. They have classical, pop, folk, rock and a great selection of children's records. You may check out the LP records for two weeks. The librarians ask however, that when returning them you do not put them in. the book drop as they can be easily broken. If you have always wondered why some peo- ple like classical music, check out a Bach. Who knows,maybe. you'll like it. A special film series started at the Clinton Branch Library in January. This month it is Hats Off To Canadian Theatre.
