many programs offered
Break Dancing
Attention break dancers! The Recreation
Committee will be offering break dancing
lessons for youth ages 8 to 16 years. Two
lasses will be offered, both six week's long
follows: Mondays, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Youth
ges 8 to 12, February 25 to April 1;
Wednesdays, 8 to 9:30 p.m., Youth ages 13 to
16, February 27 to April 3.
All classes will be conducted at the Clinton
Arena. Registration is limited to 20 students
per class. All registrants will be eligible to
win a free break dancing tape or album.
Monday Euchre
The Golden Radars Club .is now staging
Monday afternoon euchre at the Clinton
Town Hall meeting room from 1:30 to,i4:30
p.m. All Clinton and area senior citizens are
cordially invited to take part. For more in-
formation please contact the Recreation Of-
fice.
Bread Dough Art II
Good news! The Clinton Recreation Com-
mittee is offering a bread dough art course
Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at
the Town Hall meeting room. This four-
week (8 -hour 1 course started Feb:7 and will
end Feb. 28. Registration is limited to the
first 15 paid registrants. To register, please
drop by or telephone the Canton Recreation
Office. Please note that this course has
started and there are only a few spots left.

Fit Five Program
The Clinton Recreation Committee is still
eking available the fitness Ontario Fit
4iieve program to Clinton and area residents.
s free personal fitness program involves
recording the amount of time you as an in-
dividual spend participating in your
favorite fitness -related activity. This five
level program also awards people with at-

choirs from Guelph, Listowel and Mitchell
will gather in Clinton for the second Winter
u is Festival sponsored by the Central
Huron Secondary School ( CHSS I Music
Club. This festival will feature workshops
conducted by Deral Johnson from the
University of Western Ontario and vocal
coaching by students from the Faculty of
Music.
The major works for the day will be
Handers "Zadoc.the Priest" and John Bar-
ron's arrangement of "Nobody Knows The
Trouble I've Seen". These pieces will be us-
ed by Mr.. Johnson to instruct about 250
students in vocal techniques. As well, music
teachers throughout the country have been
invited to attend the festival and workshops
as part of their professional. development
activities. •
The day will begin at 9 a.m. with wenn-
ups and rehearsal of the .massed choir.

Following the intensive rehearsal,• the
choir will split into groups and rehearse
separate parts. Thanks to the generosity of
Sherlock -Manning in lending two brand new
pianos, there will be enough pianos to allow
for these sectional rehearsals.

Fit Five Level One program. ( All of these

Dorothy Haan, Gertie Greidanus, Ann

rits. A second note of congratulations to
Dorothy Haan for successfully completing
the Fit Five Level Two Program. Good work

Cake Decorating
Good news! The Clinton Recreation Com-
mittee will be offering- a eake decorating
course in March. Should you be interested in
participating in this course, please contact
the Recreation Office as soon as possible.
Calligraphy
Plans are now being finalized for a
calligraphy ( beginner) course to be held in
April. This course will be open to individuals
ages 13 and over and will be held one even-
ing night per week for a four to five week
period. Please contact the Recreation Office
at 482-3398 if interested in enrolling.
Public Skating
Clinton Arena Public Skating this .week
will be as follows. Friday 1 to 4 p:rn., Sun-
day; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.,
Monday 1 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday 1 to 3:30
p.m. For more information please contact

choir festival
the parents of the CHSS Music Club, rehear-
sals start again with sectionals followed by
massed choir practice. Before supper, in-
dividual choirs will have an opportunity to
practice their own repertoire.
The culmination of the festival will be an
evening concert starting at,7:30. This con-
cert will feature performances by. all four
participating schools as well as the massed
choir of 250 voices under the direction of Mr.
Johnson. Since all three visiting choirs have
well established reputations for excellence
in music, this concert should be a treat for
all music lovers. Members of the public are
urged to attend this special event. Admis-
sion is $2.00: .

CLINTON - The boys of the Clinton Cub
Pack certainly earned their winter related
badges several week ago when they went
on their annual winter .
The 12 boys and their eilat parent escorts
got a taste of nature at Pier Worst but are
none the worse for wear ruse of It. They
got to their winter camp near The Pinery on
Friday night, January to sad enjoyed a

various outdoor activities We tobogganing

Undeterred, they condoled to camp until

Although the Scouts wureitnable to make
it to their scheduled winter campout in
Owen Sound the following weekend, they did
get together with the Bayfield Scouts and
the Clinton Pathfinders fol° an outdoor camp
on February 2 and 3 just outside of town.
They made their own snowhuts in which
they lived until Sunday Morning, and one
reliable source reported the girls rade bet-
ter huts than the boys. They had a great •
weekend working on many winter badges,
as well as skiing, tobogganing, playing com-
mandos and running an obstacle course.
The Thursday night lavers also had a
chance to get outside they enjoyed a
toboggan party on B1a ik'dt Tiill on January
26. Boy, five dozen hottlogt doesn't last long
around 16 boys and five ad Its.
Next week, February VI to 24 is the big
week in the Scouting rtaover'nent as the Clin-
ton groups mark Scatting Week and
celebrate the birthdays of founders, Lord
and Lady Baden Powell.
The various groups hope to have window
displays in several downtown Clinton stores
s all next week and the climax of the week will

In an attempt to cut high operating costs,
the provincial ministry of natural resources
has put two more provincial parks up for
bids.
Both Point Farms provincial park just
north of Goclerich Fiord Sauble Falls provin-
cial park near Sauble Beach will be added to
the growing list of provincial parks to be
operated by private enterprise. "
The private contractors will supervise the
.operation and maintenance of these, parks
but must follow ministry guidelines. ' •
Officials from the ministry say the policy
to make private theprovincial parks will be
beneficial.ip the long run and will save thee.
Ontario taxpayer's. money by cutting out
traditional park deficits. • -
The policy calls for all recreational class
parks. to be considered for tendering.
However, it is only the operation which is
being tendered.. The same provincial. park
rules • and • fees apply at the privately
operated parks. '• .

fected because potential tendering is decid-
ed at least two year's ahead of time.
All of the privately operated provincial
parks are being retendered this year
because of either unsatisfactory perfor-
mance or contractors have found the •
business. unprofitable. Each are tendered
for five year leases.
The ministry says no park employees will
lose their jobs because of the move but will
be shifted to . other government positions.
One superintendent from each of the two
parks will be affected..

February 24 at St. Joseph's Church. '
The pancake brunch gets underway at 9
a.m. and continues until p.m. at the Legion
and is guaranteed to satisfy even the
- hungriest appetite. It is the major fund rais-
ing event for the Scouting movement in Clin-
ton, with prices set at $3 for adults, $2 for
children from five to 12 years, and $1 for
preschoolers, so drop in either before or
after church and help out the boys.
And 'if that's not busy enough, the Cubs
have to have their miniature cars ready for
Saturday, February 23 when they journey
out to Vanastra to take part in the annual
Cub -Car Rally.
