President Sister Vi Darch and Sister Ellen
Dennis of Brampton attended the Feb. 4
meeting of the Clinton Rebekah Lodge.
District Deputy President of the Huron
District 23 Sister Kay Wise also attended,
along with 29 visiting sisters from the Pride
of Huron Lodge in Exeter. -
The Exeter sisters opened and closed the
meeting under the direction of Noble Grand
Sister Marie Broome.
The Clinton sisters chaired the business
portinn of the meetino Their nresentatinn
was based on the words friendship, love and
birth.
Assembly Vice President Sister Darch
spoke on the past, present and future of Odd -
fellowship. She reminded everyone of the
present project to buy a specially equipped
van for the handicapped residents of the
Oddfellow and Rebekah home in Barrie.
She also told of, the bus trip with high
school students last summer to visit the
United Nations in New York. She praised
the local lodges for supporting this project.
Rally to be held here
CLINTON - Twenty-three senior citizens
attended the Feb. 6 meeting of the Golden
Radar Club.
The president read an interesting account
of life in Clinton, 100 years ago. At that time
the Stapleton Salt Works was the largest salt
block in the Dominion.
Members were reminded that shuf-
fleboard will be held on Friday.' It was also
noted that the Spring Zone Rally will be held
in Clinton on April 17.
The Golden Radars will host the
February birthday .party at Huronview . on
February 27. A program will be held and
refreshments served.
It was noted that the quilt is now half com-
pleted. The president read a letter from the
Blyth Festival advising that special matinee
ticket prices are offered for senior citizens.
For the program, Esther Moffat read ,a
poem. Minlue Rumball was the winner of a
" Valentine game. Esther Moffat had the
lucky heart.
Fifteen women made up the Jan. 24 graduating class of the Town and Country
Homemakers, a certificate course taught through Conestoga College. Graduates includ-

HURONVIEW Sunday morning
worship was held with Rev. Norman Pick in
charge. During the service, Margaret
McQueen sang.
The Huronview choir, assisted by other
interested residents accompanied at the
piano by Frank Bissett, presented a -hymn -
sing on 2nd floor: This is being held once a
month and is very rewarding when one
realizes how•many of the ladies know the old.
gospel tunes, and sing along.
Tuesday noon was a special time for
ladies on 2nd floor, when they enjoyed a
meal of Chinese food.
Residents have been busily engaged in
making -valentines of various shapes and
sizes in preparation for the St. Valentine's
Day party.
Several residents went to Clinton on Feb. 7
to try their luck knocking down pins at the
Crown Lanes Bowling. •
Also on Feb. 7 mid -week Bible Study was
held with Mrs. Prouty in charge. Milford
Prowty conducted'a Bible quiz. There were
two special items on the program, readings
given by Verna McLaughlin. Olive, McMillen
read an article from the New Direction.
Elsie Henderson accompanied•at the organ,
assisted by Margaret McQueen.
A welcome is 'extended to Mrs. Mildred
Gardner of Goderich, who has come to
reside at Huronview.
To the families of the late Mrs. Lucy Ellis,
sincere sympathy is conveyed. ,
Sorority test trivia and euchre skills
CLINTON — On January 12 the Zeta
Omega Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority held a progressive euchre party
and had the Xi Epsilon Beta group as
guests.
Both euchre and Trivial , Pursuit were
played. High scorers in cards were Paul
Stevenson•and Sally McNichol. Rick and
Marilyn Tyndall both had the low hands. •
The door prize was won by Linda Meade.
The Omega's monthly meeting was held
on.January 22 at Dianne Stevenson's home.
Seventeen members and one guest attend-
ed.
Vice President. Judy reminded members
that the rush party will be held on March 5.

the 25 cent draw was made, with . Judy
Stuart as the winner.
The social committee is planning a tobog-
ganing party for the children's Valentine,
party. It will be held near Bayfield.
Guest speaker at the meeting was Marj
Vere, from the Huron County Chapter of the
Epilepsy Foundation. She showed a film on
the different . types • of epilepsy and led a
discussion. Cookbooks, featuring celebrity
recipes to help raise funds for epilepsy
research were also sold.
Plans were made to hold the next sorority
meeting at Marilyn Tyndall's home on
February 11 at 7:30 p.m.

On Feb. 11 at 7:30 the Zeta Omega chapter
met at Marilyn Tyndall's home in Clinton
with 1,1 members present.
President Shirley led the meeting with the
opening ritual. Kathy Chambers read the
•minutes from the last meeting, while Vice
president Judy talked about the upcoming
rush party with everyone coming in cruise
wear along with the best pair of sunglasses.

everyone that this Sunday is the Valentind'd•
party near Bayfield.
Zehrs and I.G.A. tapes were collected and
the 25c draw was made and Anne Reid was
the lucky lwinner again. Ways and Means
committee' took everyone ' to Marilyn's
kitchen to decorate cakes for the Singing
Valentines.

A well-known fouler prinf:i al at Central
Huron Secondary School (4F) in Clinton,
Robert James ,Homuth, 'died at Clinton
Public Hospital an February 8. He was 66
years old.
Mr. Homuth of 70 Wellington Street, Clin-
ton was an active member of the community
and was best known through his teaching
career at CHSS.
Mr. Homuth assumed position of vice-
principal at CRSS in 1960. He held that posi-
tion until 1965 at which time he was pro-
moted to principal. He was the high school
principal for 12 years until his retirement in
June 1977.
Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Homuth took
an active rule to many community projects
and organizations. In Clinton he was a
member and elder of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church. As well, he was a
member and past -president of the Royal
Canadian Legion in Mitchell, Branch 128
and was also a member of the 'Clinton
Legion Branch 140.
Mr. Homuth was ®born in Culross
Township on March 5, 1918, the son of Albert
Homuth and Bertha McKague.
On Oct. 11, 1941 in St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church in Stratford he mar-
ried Winnifred Virtue Swatridge. Following
their marriage, the Homuths moved to
Hespeler for two years, they moved back to
Stratford where they lived for three years.

was a member of the Mitchell town council.

The Homuths have made their home iii
Clinton since 1960. Along with his wife ansi
mother, Mr. Homuth is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. John (Brenda) Radford q#.
Londesboro and Mrs. Jeffrey (Bonnie) Hop.
ton of Scarborough. Also surviving are five
grandchildren Robbie, Michael, Brent, Hol-
ly and Amy.
Mr. Homuth is also survived by one sister,
Mrs. Ross (Grace) Wright of Wingham, and
two brothers Albert of Goderich and Carl. of
Mitchell. He was predeceased by two
brothers Clare and Herbert Homuth.
Funeral services were held at the Ball and
Falconer Funeral Home in Clinton on
February 11. Rev. William Barber from St.
Andrew's Church in Clinton officiated.
Cremation was held at the Woodland
Crematorium in London. Burial of ashes
took place at the Clinton Cemetery.
Tuckersrnith native dies
Lucinda May Ellis
A Tuckersmith Township native and
lifetime area resident, Lucinda May Ellis of
Huronview, formerly of Clinton and
Goderich Township, died on February 4. She
was 90 years old.
Mrs. Ellis was born on April 4, 189, the
daughter of Eli Crich and Alice Spencer.
She married Ezra Ellis at Turner's
Church in Tuckersmith township. in 1916.
Mrs. Ellis is predeceased by her husband
and is survived by three daughters, Mrs.
Walter (Lorna) Spencer of Hensall, Mrs.
Cyril (Cleta) Hollingshead of Toronto, Mrs.
Donald (Frieda) Smith of Clinton, and by
one son Clayton of Clinton.
Also surviving is a sister; Mrs. Roy
(Phyllis) Connell of Huronview and 15
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Ball and
,Falconer Funeral. Home in Clinton on
February 6 with Rev. Norman Pick from
Ontario Street United Church officiating. In-
terment was held in the Clinton Cemetery.
Martha -May Cook
Martha -May Cook, of 141 Isaac St. Clin-
ton, died at the Clinton Public Hospital on
Feb. 6 at the age of 47. ..
Mrs. Cook, a bookkeeper at Gord Rapson
Paving for eight years, was born on
December 25,1937 in Toronto. She is the only
daughter of Thomas Savage, of Goderich,
and the late Emily -May (Wilkinson)
Savage.
She is survived by her husband, David
Hugh Cook and their children, Annette and
Thomas, both at home.
Funeral and committal services were
held on February 9 at Ball and Falconer
Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rev. James
Bechtel of Wesley -Willis United Church of-
ficiating. Interment was held at the Clinton
Cemetery.
Variety of activities offered
Things have been busy at the Huron Day
Centre for the Homebound since the last
newsletter in October. The Centre had a suc-
ceS Fuf bazaar on October 27, thanks to all
clients, volunteers and friends who helped in
any way. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs.
John Alilovic for providing the downtown
location.
The weeks following were busy with
crafts, games, whirlpool tubs, foot clinics,
bowling, and exercises, plus lively parties.
There were Hallowe'en parties, with
mysterious witches; Hawaiian Days with
appropriate music, food and entertainment,
and even a Tupperware party' to help out
with Christmas shopping.
Then came the Christmas parties. Party 1
was oh December 12 for. Stroke Recovery
- Clients and their spouses and friends. They
were entertained by the Clinton Christian
School Choir. Party 2 was for Tuesday and
Fridays clients and guests, they were enter-
tained by, the Hullett Central School Grade 2
class under the direction of Mrs. Heornig.
Party 3 was on December 20 with the Mon-
day and Thursday's clients, they were
entertained by the McKay Choristers of
• Goderich. Each party enjoyed a traditional
turkey dinner, exchange of gifts, and a visit
from Santa: An added treat, was avisit from
Fellowship Bible Chapel

The Centre has been closed a few days in
January, due to weather, but made it up by:;
celebrating Robbie Burns Day in style.
When the haggis was piped in by Bert Mc-
Creath, it Was then properly addressed by
George Yeats with assistance from Donald
Armstrong. Clients were also treated to a
display of highland dancing performed by
Fran McGregor.
The Day Centre clients, staff and
volunteers would like to take this opportuni-
ty to thank all organizations in Huron Coun-
ty who have so kindly donated towards the
on going operation of the Centre in 1984, with
special thanks to Fleming Feed Mill,
Goderich Elevators, Goderich Lions Club;
Exeter Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 167,
Clinton Kinettes, Exeter, Kippen, and.
Holmesvllle UCW, Taylor's Corner Ladies

Singers to present concert
BLYTH — In response to the popular
theme of last March's concert, the Blyth
Festival Singers will again present a con-
cert of sacred music in ...the third perfor-
mance of their '84-85 season. Choosing a
religious setting for this concert, the Singers
will perform two concerts at 3 'p.m. and 8
p.m. on Sunday, March 3, at Ontario Street
United Church, Clinton.
The chair will present music by Vivaldi,
Bach, Handel, and John Ruder. Included in
the repertoire will be spirituals and gospel

Mr. Robert Homuth of Clinton died on
Friday, February 8, 1985. The funeral
